Silvery particles after mixing with saline???
First, let me just say what a great resource this is for all responsible adults who want some to recreate safely. Really, the amount of info here is amazing!!
Now -- SWIM had a bit of cocaine left in a small brown plastic vial. This stuff did the trick but left SWIM with a bad nose burn for days on end, even after SWIM stopped sniffing. SWIM thought he'd mix the residue with a bit of regular saline to see what happened...SWIM was considering the nasal spray route to use up that residue. Now here's the weird thing -- almost immediately after SWIM mixed the saline with the residue, he noticed some flaky precipitate resting on the bottom of the vial. SWIM fished it out with a paperclip and saw that it was several small flakes of silvery, metallic stuff. WTF, SWIM though?? SWIM laid it out on a piece of cardboard and took a good, close look. They seem to be small metallic flakes, silvery in color. Does anybody have any ideas what this might be? Unless it something from the vial itself (doubtful), then it must be from whatever the C was cut with. SWIM is not looking to ID the cut agent exactly, just wondering if anyone knows what these silvery flakes might be. Nothing was added to the C residue except for plain saline solution. Maybe this explains the bad, bad nasal effects --- was the C cut with some sort of metal powder??? Ugh. SWIM is supposed to be sampling from a different source tomorrow, and is very curious to test the differences between the two. SWIM would hate to think that the burn is always going to be this bad for whatever reason (and from past experience, SWIM knows it isn't always the case). SWIM thanks you in advance for any advice or knowledge. Anyone here ever seen metallic flakes in their powder, or know what would react with saline that way? |

Re: Silvery particles after mixing with saline???
no clue but it sounds nasty... it wasn't visible when the cocaine was chopped up or in the saline itself ?
i'm guessing, which is not very constructive but it's a new one so i'll bite, that it might be something to emulate some kind of shiny flakey effect. now what could turn metalic grey upon contact with water and sodium chloride ? as mentioned below, purification, such as an acetone wash, is in order here not related, in fact totally OT, but found this while looking into it ![]() The Shocking History of Phosphorus or Fire from Urine "More than 300 years ago, in 1669, Hennig Brand, a Hamburg alchemist, like most chemists of his day, was trying to make gold. He let urine stand for days in a tub until it putrified. Then he boiled it down to a paste, heated this paste to a high temperature, and drew the vapours into water where they could condense - to gold. To his surprise and disappointment, however, he obtained instead a white, waxy substance that glowed in the dark. Brand had discovered phosphorus, the first element isolated other than the metals and non-metals, such as gold, lead and sulphur, that were known to the ancient civilisations. The word phosphorus comes from the Greek and means light bearer." Last edited by Benga; 23-09-2008 at 00:01. |

Re: Silvery particles after mixing with saline???
Thx for the quick reply, Benga.
No, SWIM noticed no metallic flakes in the C itself or in the saline. When SWIM got the C, it was a small brick with some loose powder and smaller chunks at the bottom of the bag...the brick did have a sheen to it but not unlike SWIM has sometimes seen before. |
