How do you know when you're addicted to G? I use it fairly
frequently, but I never have effects when I discontinue using for a few days. I've heard a lot about the addiction potential, however, which is worrying. What are danger signs, and what should I avoid? |

If you take it immediately on waking after taking it to go to sleep, you might have an issue
![]() Just take occasional breaks, saves you money on tolerance too. GHB isn't very addictive unless you are prone to that kinda stuff. I never could understand people being addicted to benzos myself but everyone is different. A feeling that life is just better with GHB well it is, if you suffer from depression. Its a shame we can't ever have a psych drug that causes euphoria and lust for life. ![]() |

G has a fairly strong potential for addiction, but all addictions depend a lot on your personality type, lifestyle etc. As with everything else, moderation is the key.... Danger signs would be taking it 24/7, needing it to sleep, or you feel like shit until you take more. Edit: it's worth pointing out that GHB has significantly less potential for addiction than GBL or BDO. The symptoms and withdrawals from GBL or BDO can be quite nasty. Edited by: psyki |

Nothing concrete just personal observation, GBL gives a nasty stimulant
effect after it wears off that can give you racing heart and anxiety. GHB gives a much more subtle rebound, you just feel energetic the next day. When GHB was yanked I didn't see many reports of withdrawl, but when GBL was they started springing up everywhere some people were pretty bad off too, I'm talking 3-5 day dopamine psychosis with full blown hallucinations. Often times the medical professionals these people went to for help didn't understand what to do putting them in 4 point restraints instead of just sedating them until dopamine and gaba were balanced again. |

I don't know if even researchers understand it fully, but I know part
of it is because of the infamous dopamine rebound that is so much stronger with GBL and BDO. Perhaps byproducts are released when they are converted into GHB that have synergistic effects. From what I understand GHB was synthesized while trying to find a way to make GABA cross the blood-brain barrier more effectively. Maybe one of these byproducts does so even better than G. |

Currently, I take1g of Phenibut twice a day. I then intermix GHB throughout the day. The Phenibut makes the GHB reboundgo away completely (in my case at least). Sleep is pretty effortless. I was addicted to GBL for a while until the toxicity bult up in my system and made me very ill. Breaking away from GBL without the use of valium or equivalentwas nearsuicide. My blood pressure and heart rate was through the roof for several days. Bad mojo. By the way, I like that icon your using Psyki. Pretty funny. |

yeah cleaver gbl addiction freakin sucks. Some signs you may be addicted..
Asking yourself if you may have a problem, wakeing up ontop of your keyboard or other random places on a regular basis, needing it to feel normal. Not wanting or being able to go to social events without it. Swim uses ghb with no problems faily frequently (2-3 times a week). Just give ghb/gbl the respect it deserves and you should not have any problems. It seems its those who underestimate or dont know any better that usually have the most problems. Well, I think I'm ok. I never used it more than two or three
times a week, and now I do it less. I just get paranoid sometimes... |

Re: GHB and Addiction
very old thread but thought i'd share my experiances.. swim hs used gbl for 6 months.. starting off recreationlly and building up in last few months to addiction. it seems like theres so little information on this. the physical effects for swim were almost unberable the first 24 hours aafter withdrawal, but after the first good nights sleep in aa few months the most noticable effect was muscle pains.. swims now just 48 hours passed quitting.. has ordered some more but is regrettin this. the physical side does not bother swim that much. the efects this has one ones life may not be as bad as other drugs but are so underestimted. like an above poster said u end up not wanting to go to sociaal events etc. in the time swim has been doin it he has lost a gf (he does not believe this is down to use), is very much in debt and has lost contact with friends.. while the effects of the drug have maybe not made all this happen, it stopped him preventing it. i usually wouldnt be so candid in a post but i just dont think enough people know this when they start doing it.
it can start very innocently, although i believe people who have a tendancy to drink too much are very suseptble. before you end up using it to sleep you really should stop. i'd also be interested to find if very heavy users find strange effects on mood.. such as feeling very close to ppl then t times acting almost sociopathically like they dont care. swim does believe this is down to gbl use. i think this substance has many positive uses in the hands of responsible users.. however you might not know if you are one until its a little too late!! |
