Culture - Methamphetamine in the UK?

I used to know a guy who did amphetamines almost everyday for 3-4 years and funded his habit by selling speed as well. Not once though in all that time did he ever come across any meth whatsoever and he still has yet to see any sign of it making its way to his area? I know that scotland has recently had a big increase in people being reported meth addicts, but else where it seems like its non-existent?

Any UK members seen meth round there way?

depends what circles swiy moves in for instance it is still very exspencive hear at the mo, so mainly on gay scean, like most new drugs, start there first befor filtering threw, apart from psycadelics which gay scene does not seem to like. but thats because all the guys' wana do is get high and fuck. it will be a number of years yet befor it becomes cheap or buyable by the hit rather than a gram, only others' swim knows are those that make it them selfs.

I have a friend called Swim who also lives in the UK and who has not even seen speed on the streets for ages, let alone meth. Swim is longing for amphetamine again, and is beginning to think the only option now is to make their own.

It's quite prevalent in Scotland and London, especially on the gay scene as adzket has mentioned. One of my best friends boyfriend claims to have used it but his description of it and it's effects are 50/50 - so who knows what his getting? Unfortunately, my little fishy thinks his a cunt and wants nothing to do with him, otherwise he would have looked further into it.

not wrong it was us who started whole k klub scene hear in uk back in erly 90's
it's always us who start on new popular drugs first apart from psycadelics don't know why but most other gays swim knows hate them.

SWIM lived in Soho/London during the 90's and did experience the joys of Meth. Intrestingly although living in the West End and being in a same sex partnership kinda made SWIM gay(bi-sexual actually.... no-one likes us) SWIM guess... which was cool 'cause this is the main gay area of London(lotsa bars, clubs, sex shops, good looking people and stuff). Anyhoo at the time SWIM continually scored some quality pills from the usual people around the bars, the usual steroids, growth Hormone of the gym contacts there, SWIM only found shit speed(which is why SWIM prefered the nice coke being sold from friends of friends) being sold on the frontline along with ok H and Methadone amps/pills/mixture. Then SWIM's opiate habit got out of control and SWIM went to a private doc for some Methadone amps and was offered Dexadrine which now SWIM gets for adult ADD all these years later.... one day a friend(trust me, NOTHING TO do with the gay scene) asked me and my partner did we want some good 'base'... SWIwe were ok, yeah if it's 'good', SWIwe paid the money and IV'd it and OMG that was the first and last time SWIM had crystal meth from a friend of a friend who made it. Bloody good, no ordinary speed could have kept us awake for 5 days... it took so little and every shot was just like being re-awoken. The sex was amazing(I won't go into details, I know how straights get when talking about normal sex after all)..... I will say that a few women in the action would have been good but we had enough bits and pieces to have a pretty freaky cool time. Can't wait to try meth again. My current partner is pretty 'boring' bless and it's been over 10 years but zomg he's gonna learn.... SWIM gets pretty horny on Dexamp in the right quantity. Nothing like meth though. SWIM has not been out clubbing for a few years(after relapsing into a serious H habit having aged a bit to sell ones body and being prevented from doing the Registered Nurse job SWIM had trained for succesfully to much of an extent anyway. That aside SWIM remembers not seeing much meth about in DTPM, Trade(always gets something there),G.A.Y.,The Fridge(used to be excellent for everything but then raided), Heaven(forget it with drugs in there by and large) and a few other places SWIM went no one mentioned meth but then SWIM was not really looking.... That was upto 05, maybe it's changed. Heck, SWIM remembers when little bottles of GHB were being sold in all the Soho 'book stores'. When I get a better paid job and get better toned we'll have to go down and look again, SWIM enjoyed that Meth but does'nt think he'll go too far as he's looked after his Dexe weekly binges without troubles for a decade. SWIM's worried about damaging various orafaces(ok enough... about that!).

On topic: Swim knows someone recently from the UK, he's familiar and enjoys Fake(UK) speed(amp) but he's never heard of REAL speed (meth) let alone familiar with the effects.

Swim keeps hearing of these mythical Jesus like dealers who sell it in Newcastle but I've never come across it at all. Up here, speed is like gold dust too.

Out of interest, could you ask your friend what this speed looked like? A Certain Mouse is guessing that it was a pissy smelling paste if it was marketed as Base, & if this was the case then it was very likely not methamfetamine, but proper base amfetamine sulfate. He would like to add that the base that was around in the 90's was a world away from the tripe that is bandied around in some circles these days, & would indeed keep a body going for a loooong time on very little! Not denying that meth was around at the time, especially in that subset of society, just pointing out that it is unlikely that was it.
