Alcohol good for insomnia?

hello,

for personal reasons swim never drinks alcohol, or if swim does, it's in very small amounts.

swim uses other drugs tho...
but for about 6 months swim has been having really trouble getting to sleep, and is having serious nightmares once in a week, somethin like that...
and he's actually sleeping less then 5 hours when he gets to sleep, and waking up just feels terrible...
swim stopped ritalin and any other estimulant, that wouldn't help is case - it didn't help... (he has ADD)
swim smokes hash regularly, and doesn't help him when he goes to bed... no matter how much, he would just be wasted in thoughts, and sleep would eventually come after he was tired from 2 hours totally f**ked up

there is a way out tho, but swim would hate to develop some addiction to this - because he normally doesn't have easy access to this kind of drugs..
- benzos, and mirtazapine.

it could have been days since he last slept sometime peacefully, and he may be feeling terrible... but 1mg clonazepam and 15mg mirtazapine will take swim's subconscious down like nuts... in 30 minutes he'll be sleeping, and waking up is not really that bad after 10 hours straight...

but swim doesn't really like the benzo and AD stuff... so he was thinking it may be time to try some alcohol...
as swimsaid, for personal reasons he avoids alcohol... but times like these he doesn't give a crap...
so swim has been researching for ways to sleep nicely... it seems that alcohol provides many people a wonderful nightsleep, and he hopes he would stop benzos and AD's...

swim doesn't feel like asking any of his close friends, as he normally doesn't drink... so swim's just asking for suggestions... he will try those, as he would do about anything to stop popping k-pins every night...

swim was thinking nothing in high doses, but he's totally away from this kind of stuff...
swim got here with some research done...
conclusions so far: a bottle of whisky next to bed.

it'd really help some tips about the drink itself and the amount, the effects, whatever...
oh, one last note, please use the metric system for amounts

thank u everyone
