Best genre of music on MDMA or similar drugs

Please select from the poll which is your lab-rat-ape-monkeys favourite genre of music whilst on MDMA or similar drugs.

A reason as to why would also be appreciated.

KomodoMK added 3 Minutes and 16 Seconds later...

My little fishy would choose happyhardcore, strangely the day his best friend suggested he did some E with her his other friend also bought the Bonkers 13 happyhardcore album. Even since then he has never looked back and found it the most euphoric and wonderful music to listen to whilst loved up and enjoying MDMA.

my pet loves happy hardcore just because of the upbeat nature of it and it just seems right to be listening to it when rolling

Little fishy doesn't think anything come close to the pure euphoria hardcore can deliver, and would choose happyhardcore over drugs alone. Combination of the two is the ultimate euphoric experience in his eyes.

Don't think a depressive happyhardcore song could even exist!

Re: Best genre of music on MDMA or similar drugs!

swim likes music by the beatles, janice joplin, pink floyd and other bands of that genre and era when rolling because its so mellow. normally swim likes hard rock and metal music but he cant stand it while on mdma because its too agressive and hes looking for a a mellow trip. swim cant stand techno music whether rolling or not, esp. when rolling the beats arent very conductive to rolling with friends just talking in an intimate enviorment whether indoors or out doors in nature with a portable stereo.

Jam bands.. Anything like grateful dead, phish, sts9 rocks. Swim thinks this is because he likes this music any ways and the vibe that the people give off is a positive happy vibe.

Trance seems to go better with amphetamines or coke. The Kai Tracid and ATB songs you mentioned are really good!

IDM/electronica along the lines of Squarepusher, Boards of Canada, Simian Mobile Disco, Daft Punk, Rena Jones, Digitalism... that's where it's at
Or for for mellower rolls, shoegaze and post-rock are the best. Bands like Sigur Rós, My Bloody Valentine, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Everything Is Made In China, Gregor Samsa and Mogwai.

Psytrance music was SWIM's fave but he realized it made his trips to intense (When he started shrooming he listened to a lot of trance and every time he would turn it on hallucinations would get intense.) So he switched to lovey techno and liked that for a while until he was an experienced shroomer now he listens to underground rap and Psytrance again.

Re: Best genre of music on MDMA or similar drugs!

Really, anything is good with MDMA.

Funk, classical, rap, jazz, etc.

Everything sounds amazing!

However, nothing compares to "The Beat" for me. Driving beats and MDMA are simply a match made in heaven, and however good other music sounds, something with a clutch driving beat just sounds better.

Trance is well suited to MDMA, even the crap stuff. Psytrance is yet better. Funky House works well, but Deep House tends to be a miss. Anything with heavy beats that make you want to go nuts is excellent, but if you want a more chill atmosphere anything else is good also. By the time you are rolling, you really don't care what music is playing, s'all good!

tech trance in the beginning to create a bit of anxiety as the rush builds for the build up to progressive trance.

is good been around many years. old dumonde tracks are good & cosmic gate too. there's many old dutch & uk labels that are great such as the old uk Nukleuz classics......ol german PVD is a favourite too ' his older stuff.'

melodical sounds with quality vocals such as Sarah Mclaghlan & a solid off beat bass line is awesome on mdma. best is the goose bumps you get for years after rolling on mdma & listening to the tracks with tears of hapiness in your eyes from blisfull memories.

sylenth added 0 Minutes and 53 Seconds later...

When your a die hard happyhardcore fan like my little fishy then trance is real smooth, the ATB - Ecstasy song is super smooth if you ask him. Even more so once you get into some gabber when your peaking! Love the gabber towards the end of Bonkers 13 Disc 3 Mixed by Scott Brown.

you happy hard core people, die hards for sure. lol. i'll keep a listen out for this compilation. i'm a fan of Scott Project & scott bond never heard of Scott Brown...

slightly off topic, is the uk scene doing well with hard style & trance? which is the biggest at the moment? i see you did'nt add electro generic cheesy stuff, the new age slick bass line is all it has going good for it. my 2 cents anyways...

see the trance poll votes are the highest, i've created a group a little while back 'trance music lovers' any one feel free to join & share memories, tracks etc...

Re: Best genre of music on MDMA or similar drugs!

I love some of the cheesy stuff. Not sure how the UK is doing with hardstyle or trance these days as I only listen to the older stuff mainly. The more unheard of the better it tends to be in my opinion, some real shit happyhardcore came about once it was commercialized and big labels picked it up, thankfully it's died down a little now.

Underground music is so much better because it's made for the love of the music and not churned out to make quick money for the big labels.

I'll get a song or two from each style of hardcore and upload them over the weekend and post here for those who are interested.

SWIM loves drum and bass while on mdma, at the minute i'm really feeling the high contrast style liquid funk, the beat has a relentless drive that you can really get into and captures the energy of the experience as well as being atmospheric so you can space out to it, lovely.

Though its always nice to mix it up a little bit. SWIM is going to see Sasha tonight and cannot wait!

Re: Best genre of music on MDMA or similar drugs!

I originally voted D+B, but a little while ago swim got some of his ancient happyhardcore collection out while rolling, and now swim wants to change it!

SWIM went to heaven listening to some of the old classics, shooting star, discoland, field of dreams, gangstas paradise HH remix, etc. I now remember why I got all my old mates into happy hardcore years ago when I discovered it, nearly forgot about this genre completely with all the D+B i've listened to over the last few years. SWIMS definately gonna be playing Happy Hardcore on his next roll. A truly Euphoric experience.

so just bear in mind, theres another invisible vote in the Happy Hardcore section

Re: Best genre of music on MDMA or similar drugs!

A dissenter in the ranks. SWIM doesn't generally like most electronic music, can't even claim to know what "hippy handcore" or "junglefluff" or "bizzonk" are ... ... but he has discovered that what he likes best on molly is music without words, energetic but not too drummy. Minimalist composers like Steve Reich and Terry Riley are excellent (try to find the Grand Valley State University New Music Ensemble's version of Reich's "Music of 18 Musicians" which is 60 minutes of bliss when one is peaking). Other modern classical that's not too dissonant can also be great, such as some of Kronos Quartet's less dark moments ("Pieces of Africa" is good), or especially John Tavener's "The Protecting Veil", which is profound and stimulating.
