Dextromethorphan Insanity

SWIM passed on the following note to me....

I am 18 years old. I live in Minnesota and am profoundly addicted to several substances(Nicotene,Marijuana,Alcohol,Caffeiene, and Dextromethorphan or DXM,)
My drug use started at about 11 years of age with weed and cigarettes which then led to drinking and pills and so on and so forth. The Insanity started with DXM at the age of 15. I discovered DXM as the answer to all problems in life. DXM made everything that i didnt agree with become irrelevant. It was me, my friends, and our drugs and fuck the rest of the world. As it turns out, this mind state doesnt fly with about 95 percent of the worlds population. As a habitual(Meaning practically daily for years) DXM user i believe that this drug has caused irreparable damage to every aspect of me. Mentally, i feel empty and have lost most motivation to continue life.My reaction time, memory, and coordination are greatly damaged. I have horrifying dreams and i walk and talk in my sleep and move constantly. I cannot sit still even while awake. I have began having Seizures and convulsions as a result of too much abuse. At times my life has appeared almopst dream-like, like things are not even really happening. The thought of suicide crosses my mind daily and i am unable to hold a job. While on a constant DXM binge i have also tried virtually every other drug out there more than once from crack to weed to alcohol to meth to salvia and the list goes on.....For Some reason i continue to burn everyone that means anything to me and keep ingesting DXM.I have been to Hundreds of AA and NA meetings. I have been through treatment twice and have been getting arrested since i was 13 years old. Right now I have one friend that will talk to me and i live with my parents. I am alone and i believe i have fucked myself over to the point of no return. What Should I do????????

Get clean and sober.. Swim knows this is hard but once you do it you will get most of the things back that you lost.. You will get friends and your memory back.. DXm is not a joke you will die very very soon... You have to fully commit yourself to programs like Na and AA to work.. but if one fully commits themselves to staying sober it will happen...

That being said even if you fully commit to getting sober with out na or aa you can do it..

Life is so much better than what you are expirenceing now..

Please post again swim does not want you to die.

Suicide is not a good option.. Just realize that this is a dark time in your life.. and it will all turn around soon if you just get clean and sober...

Seek medical attention. Find a caring doctor/medical person.

Try and find support in family/friends.

Sounds like you had a pretty bad case of DXM abuse.

Taking a long, long time away from drugs in general will do much for you too.

I fully agree with what fivelegged said....taking some time away from drugs and alcohol will give SWIY some time to rethink their position about drugs....SWIM was in the same position as SWIY is before he became addicted to heroin....SWIM was doing DXM daily mostly 2nd-3rd plateau trips and eventually it wasn't even fun anymore....SWIM even went to the hospital for a DXM OD when his parents found him unconcious after consuming 1200+mg and he has been through 7 rehabs and thousands of NA and AA meetings and that thing that has worked for him is just making up his mind that he is done with all of that shit

Life is so much better without drugs and alcohol and SWIM actually has true friends now that call him and check up on him....who woulda thought that would have happen when he was using...try developing new hobbies and I really think that NA or AA could help in this case since it can help build a foundation and a place to start as well as meeting new people that enjoy living life without drugs and alcohol

I am always on here if you feel like talking or have any more questions and just remember, it may be rough at first without any drugs or alcohol, but it gets easier everyday and is definitely worth it once the drugs start causing a problem in one's life.

Does anyone know any facts about physical and mental impairment from DXM abuse? I feel like my mind and body are detereorating

I do know that a bird told me that when she was in the middle of using DXM daily and several times a week that she thought her mind and thinking process was a whole lot slower than normal and this was on the days she wasn't using DXM and even for a couple of months afterwards when she stopped for good

However, after a couple of months off DXM, her mind and body returned to normal and she can't notice any long term effects of the DXM now

Even if you do have any damage, the only way to know is to fully sober up first, and let your body return to a normal, healthy state.

Whenever coming off a substance, people feel like they have mental/physical damage, and it is usually just the comedown/aftereffects/depletion of important chemicals in the body.

You need to get proper nutrition, and try to get neurotransmitters back in normal levels.

I forgot to mention that i have spent several months at a time sober and incarcerated and tried to live healthy while sitting time. Effects have not diminished. Every time i have gotten out i have made my way back to DXM. Am I going to die soon?

Swim can tell you that you are not going to die soon as long as you don't do anything crazy.

Like we said, talk to a doctor, preferably one with half a brain when it comes to DXM abuse.

I honestly believe that if SWIY doesn't make a change in their life sometime soon, if the drugs don't kill SWIY rightout, then the lifestyle will. How long were SWIY completely away from all drugs and alcohol?

I have spent a total of 13 months incarcerated and rarely was able to obtain drugs while incarcerated otherwise ive been trippin since i was 15

alright I know this was pointed out earlier but remember to avoid self-incrimination by using SWIM (someone who isn't me) or something similar to that since DF does not promote any taking of drugs or illegal activity

so from what I got that you posted, SWIY was not offically off all drugs and alcohol during the time they were locked up....yes there drastically reduced their using but weren't completely off....this could have played a big part in how come SWIY didn't notice any change in the way they feel as well as being locked up I'm sure didn't help any causes

Furthermore, SWIY use could have escalated and gotten worse since the time before they got locked up and I stand by my advice before that SWIY needs to lay off the drugs and alcohol for a while and let everything return back to normal and then see how they feel say in like 6-12 months

SWIM knows you are all right but cannot seem to make himself want sobriety.....SWIM is thinking about going to job corps but thats just running from problems isnt it?

Even though 15 to 18 seems like a long time from SWIM's perspective, it's really not at all. Or 11 to 18 for that matter. It's a long time when you are 18. But SWIM can turn it around and do something great in the near future. Yes he can. So have SWIM seek help and get started. You'll look back on all this and wonder why SWIM thought his life was wrecked.

SWIM is at war with himself. Part of him wants to get a job and start making his own way in life....and the other part of SWIM is a demon screaming fuck the bullshit were all gonna die anyways why not have fun and fuck around for the short time were here...SWIM is worried schizophrenia is playing a part in his two sided personality

swiy has to take advice from these people, and listen. If swim is truly committed to getting straightened out then he must do it now. saying fuck the world wont work at all.

Swim feels for swistilla junkie very much! Swim was hooked on DXM for about 6 months and it was HORRIBLE!!! Swim has felt the emotional rollercoster swiyou are riding and the feelings of the mind slipping away forever. It can be very rough but swiy can do it!!!

Swim beat his addiction to DXM and was clean for a couple of months off all substances... He then started smoking weed and drinking again, followed by cocaine binges starting up again (swim used ALOT of coke when DXM wasn't within his reach). Swim was convinced he was just recreationally using drugs but that wasn't true!!! Far from the truth!!!

About 3 months after quitting DXM swim found out his father was scripted oxycodone and methadone for his IC (interstitial cystitis). He started using oxy frequently thinking "this are prescribed meds so they can't be bad!"... One year later swim was pretty much hooked on pain meds! He battled it HARD!!! However he just couldn't stay clean no matter what!!! So 4 years into opiate addiction he decided suboxone maintenance was in order and now swim has been clean off all substances except for the occasional blunt!

Swim is now 6 months clean but without the help of his Dr. and psychiatrist he would still be hooked most likely!!!??? Swim is RX'ed Klonazepam 1mg AM, 2mg at bedtime and Alprazolam .5mg as needed (90 a month), he is also on suboxone 6mgs now down from 16mgs, and also 2 months ago Adderall IR (mixed amphetamine salts) 40mgs a day. Swim has been told by many dr's that he was self medicating with drugs therefor his prescriptions help with his problems and keep him from needing to self medicate!

Swim KNOWS swiy can get clean, swiy just HAS TO WANT TO GET CLEAN!!! Swim wishes swiyou the best down the road to sobriety and is always here to answer any questions or to just chat!!! Stay safe all and have a wonderful night!!! -bdb1-

dude its almost excactly the same with swim except he binges on whatever available which dxm is mostly because its in every store,several od's and nde,death wakeup call like that is'nt even strong enough,wants to die also.the entire world is fake as a dream same same.sometimes this is so strong swim thinks hes about to wake up or something then realizes its reality and flips and busts up cars and hit people and tries to kill himself and others because it is so unpleasantly confusing and feels like the enviroment will fall and will be in hell or something will pop out and kill him.never until such constant and intense binging, brain no longer can relize things as they are i guess

swiy must realize what he lives for and deicide on his own what he can and should do with his life,and will feel as good as drugs as he knows hes making the right decision.it will be hard at first,it will take time,swim may snap and go back to it,then be miserable afterwords but its okay because swiy can decide to pick himself back up.just dont bring swiyself down because of it,others seem to do that enough.

The thing is, is that, the world won't fall. Compare youselves to everyone around you and realize that it is hard to comitt in your mind-state. Sober-up. Help yourselves. Respect your soul.

The more you use, the more you create this new faulty world. kick it's ass!

i know alot of people will hate me for this, but tking a drug like lsd or ibogaine can help realize the evil that drugs are casuing in ur life, a powerful trip can make u appreciate ur life again and find new meaning. but for a daily dxm user id really recomend sobering up long beofre any type of psychedelic therapy. dxm is a very destructive drug and swim cant belive its otc.... out of all the abusable drugs the allow dxm to be otc.. swim thinks dxm should be llegal haha, he jsut thinks its an evil dirty drug.
