Dose - All Day Seroquel

So a couple months ago I entered into intensive 28 day MICA rehab and was perscribed Seroquel for my anxiety, as I guess nothing else works for me..

I am on a dosage of 50mg 3x a day and 100mg at night..
Meaning I am supposed to take it at 9am, 1pm, 5pm, and 9pm..

Before I had a horrible addiction to 4.5mgs klonopin a day without hearing the horror stories surrounding benzos, and now I am starting to worry about this.

It only has been about 3 months, but i definate feel extreme tolerance. Also I have not seen a psychiatric doctor about my meds, just told the general guy that they perscribed it.

Has anyone else been perscribed it this way? Most people seem to just take it at night... I just don't want to go through any more drug problems.. I'm just tired of all this shit.

Please use the term SWIM(some1 whoisnt me) or similar!

SWIM was prescribed seroquel 2X daily for anxiety issues,but after 2 weeks found side effects worse than anxiety issues and was forced to stop taking them...
SWIM has managed toget a grip on most of SWIMS anxiety issues and now only takes Lorazapam as needed.

Seroquel is quetiapine, an antipsychotic, used for bipolar/schizophrenia/subduing crazy mental patients/etc.

Why would you be prescribed this for anxiety?! Sounds like a very bad idea.

4.5mg Klonopin aka clonazepam really is not that much, at least not to Swim.

The two drugs you mentioned have NOTHING in common. Very different types.

Swim highly recommends finding a new doctor, one who actually knows medicine.

seroquel is also commonly prescribed as an off-label use for insomnia and through all the rehabs SWIM has been to, he finds that this one and trazadone are quite notorious for being prescribed for this reason even if the patient isn't bipolar, etc

Seroquel is also prescribed as an off label anxiety medication as already stated.

Although ISHO it is shit!

"Off label" can be code for "Doctor Mistake", as Swim has seen quite a bit.

Yes I know kpin and squil are different.

It was just that I had no idea about the shit I would have to go through quitting it, or the protracted withdrawl.

and I thought that 4.5 was a pretty high dose,,, i lost 25 pounds in 2 weeks, had a seizure and full on hallucinations for a week in a hospital detoxing.

but thats besiedes the point

a MICA rehab stands for "mentally ill chemically addicted" and focuses just as much on the mental aspects of addiction (depression, anxiety, personality disorders) as on staying off drugs.

I was perscribed seroquel because no SSRI's really help me, thanks to antisocial personality disorder haha. Benzos are addictive.. just another choice I guess

In the past SWIM binged heavy on ecstasy... like rolling every day for months and months at a time.. so now SWIMS brain is even more hyperactive, even beyond my sensory integration disorder...

Seroquel is sick... all it does is turn one into a zombie. Its ment to incapasitate "crazy" people (labotomy in a pill). Why doesen't swiu get on a low dose of xanax or vallium? I can understand the addictiveness of it but dont abuse them. It shouldent be a problem then. If used in a theraputic dose for swiu's anxiaty (not to get high) does the physical addiction really matter if its not abused? The mental addiction (to get high) is simply mind over matter. Just a thought.

Yes, addiction can happen (physical too) from just medicinal purposes. Abuse is not required; this is why when Swim self medicates for anxiety with alprazolam, he never exceeds 1mg per dose, and never uses more than 3 or 4 times a week. Plenty of people get on benzos for legit purposes, and have to taper/detox just to get off, after their tolerance shoots up from daily regiments that the doctor ignorantly keeps increasing until it's like 6mg alprazolam daily.

Sorry, 4.5mg is a decent dosage, my bad on that. Not extreme. Swim did not get effects until 2mg, and assumed.

MICA sounds like it could get pretty abusive/evil. These programs really should have monitoring from independent organizations.

Jeeze, Swiy did abuse MDMA pretty bad. That's some seriously heavy usage there.

As said abouv, does the physical addiction really matter if your not using it to get high? If your going to need it for anxiaty then you SHOULD be taking them anyways. The mental addiction to get high is all on swiu. Its not like the anxiaty is going to go away if he detoxes and gets off the benzo's anyways. Lol lets give labotomys (seroquel) to anxiaty patiants ... seems a bit much...

Living with a physical addiction is not fun. Besides the fact that WD's and Seizures can occur when not having the drug on the proper time schedule, the drugs stop having an effect once one becomes tolerant. The positives go away quickly. Also, many other drugs can interact with the benzos.

I know too many people who started taking a small dose which helped, and at a doctor's suggestion, went on to 3x,4x,and higher doses than they started with, in addition to being on multiple substances.

Example: Swim'sGrandma started with 1mg Lorazepam taken when needed for anxiety. Now, its's more like 4mg lorazepam daily and 45mg diazepam daily.

becareful taking anti psycotic medication,,,once your addicted/take them every day, wen u stop you'll go crazy/ slightly schizophrenic. One of my dogs mates were getting them off a friend for sleeping,,,,,,after a few months he went without for a few days and went crazy
