The Social Contract
The idea of the Social Contract is that you give up certain civil liberties in order for the government to protect you. However, if they aren't holding up their end, you are required to let them know by breaking unjust laws, so long as there is no actual destruction. This is a moral thing more than legal, but it's in legal form.
If the cat really, truly finds marijuana to be medically and spiritually superb and finds that it improves his quality of life, should the cat risk going to jail (by means of a probation officer) for such a moral imperative?
