Effects - codeine effects

hi!lately ive been prescribed codeine phosphate on 30mg tabs for a back pain,first thing that occured to me when doctor gave me this was get high on it,thing is the effects on me are not same as ones described here on several threads,well,i do feel a sense of relaxation on quite high doses,over 150mg but as an opiate i was expecting something well better,maybe i should say that i used to smoke some h on chasing the dragon technique so i wonder if my body is that tolerant to the codeine,is there a safe way and or dose i can use in order to get a real high?can someone help,i have this 2 boxes of 28 tabs each waiting for me!!!

Yeah have you tried the extraction technique, if the pills have paracetomal in them swiy needs to add the tabs to water to extract the codiene, also codiene is quite a weak opiate and is no where near as strong as smoking good heroin so please dont expect anything like the nod swiy felt when having smack.

SWIY cannot inject codiene as its highly dangerous so the best option is to remove the paracetomal and just increase the dose untill high, but again dont expect complete ecstasy of codiene tabs, but the fact that swiy has smoked gear in the past will not give swiy a tolerance as ones tolerance drops completly to zero after 5-7 days clean. Maybe Swiy should ask the doc 4 some more powerfull drugs, e.g. Vicodin or oramorph, that will have stronger effects

Ruca, go back and read the rules again. Especially regarding self incrimination. No-one on this board uses drugs, although our friends, pets, grandmothers ect do!!

As OntheNod said, codeine isn't a vert strong opiate, maybe up the dose to 200mg or so? Also having an empty stomach really helps get a bit more of a kick from the dose accoriding to my ferret.

The first thing swiy needs to check is whats in the tablets one would assume they only contain codeine but it is possible that they also contain paracetamol if this is the case then a C.W.E should be done (to check read the enclosed leaflet inside the box).

secondly assuming swiy is taking some of these tablets for pain relief you will already have some tolerance to codeine if this is the case dose's up 400mg may be needed i can not stress enough "UP TO 400mg"and a lower dose should be sought first,for full doseage chart,UTSE search= complete list of opiate doses.

Thirdly there are certain meds that can either increase/decrease the strength codeine,UTSE search= codeine potentiators.
finally care should be taken whilst codeine is one of the weaker opiates it still holds the risk of overdose!!have fun swim...Q

codeine is good but no where near as strong as H! the effects are no where near comparable! Its just like being stoned but not as heavy on the head and not that strong, dont expect anything more then this,

If ur already into lots of different drugs then it might seem rubbish, but swim finds they are good to come down from drugs, or withdrawing from drugs, and it feels nice with a joint or two. Swim is no where near as hard core as she was a few years ago, just dabbles now and again, so having some codeine now and again feels great because she has no other drugs in her system, or has forgotten what harder drugs feel like.

Codeine is partially metabolized into morphine (except in a small percentage of people for whom it is a lousy opiate), which is why it gives a buzz; it is metabolized slowly so there is no loading-dose, hence an equivalent (6-1 to 15-1 are conversion rates I've seen (codeine - morphine of course) . Sadly I'm writing this all from memory, and can't quote sources) dose of morphine will be stronger subjectively at least in the initial phase. Codeine effects will be gentler (cf morphine Instant Release V Sustained Release) . I really wanted to add that some people, with a double copy of a gene for producing such-and-such an enzyme, metabolize codeine to morphine extra well, so it is important to proceed with caution, even if you know you're OK with the conventionally-given equivalent dose of a stronger opiate. It's a small risk, but why risk od-ing for pleasure?

beware of side effects that feel like extreme heartburn all the way thru your back. can start after using them frequently.

Just up the dose until you feel the effect you desire.But when I say up the dose I mean take 100mg today and 120mg tomorow cause if you take 100mg now and 60mg half an hour later you will loose the last 60 mg for nothing since the first dose will inhibit the second dose's convertion into morphine therefore making it useless.

Although I am opiate naive, codeine at upto 200mg didn't have any noticable effect on me. For me its CRAP.

Then you're most likely CYP2D6 deficient (this is the liver enzyme that converts codeine to morphine) so if you're deficient then codeine won't do much for you.
