Permant mental damage from speed?
SWIM hasn't done speed hardcore for a little over a year. But since he stopped using everyday, he's gained ALOT of weight, and now has mild sleep-apnea. His motivation is totally fucked up, he doesn't do shit but lay around the house and smoke weed and drink. All he does for fun without drugs is eating, and sticking it to the shit-head psychiatrists that got him hooked in the first place. SWIM's social life is totally fucked up, as well as his sex-drive. He fantasizes about cooking it all the damn time, dreams about doing speed, and getting spun. He wants to feel the same way he did before he started using speed. How does SWIM do this?

Anyone laying around the house all day and smoking weed and drinking is going to feel 'fucked up' and useless. SWIY won't have permanent damage, but will never be the same person as before. We all change with time and the experiences we have. At some point we all have to take responsibilty for our lives.

I agree with enquirewithin. Don't do any more speed or similar things. Cut back on drugs in general too. Also, focus on something new in your life. Make a goal. Getting/staying in good physical condition helps too.

If a desire to return to a "pre-speed user" days returned, would the issues which made the shrinks prescribe speed still be there? How would these be dealt with in a healthy way? Speed freak Tom from the UK says that he stays off base (addictive amphetamine but weaker than meth) by diet and supplements. He also uses herbs, but he says he cut back on the illegal one. He is just telling me not to forget that these herbs and supplements hold the same safety precautions prescription meds do. Tom googled and it went from there. |

Re: Permant mental damage from speed?
Swim found it took a while to feel normal again after doing drugs(adderall, ritalin, weed, alcohol) on a daily basis, but it will happen again. Try to find some hobby. Get back into stuff that used to interest you, or new find new things to do. Just avoid drugs and alcohol completely, since most of them tend to lower one's motivation in the first place.
Addiction lasts forever though. Just keep that in mind. |
