Mushrooms Turned Black: Unsure if They Are Safe
So SWIM grew some P. Cubensis and left them under a fan for a few days to dry. That was the plan anyway, but on the second day, he was showing them off to his GF and he accidentally spilled some water on them.
He didn't have time to set up the fan again so he stuffed them in a bag, got as much oxygen out of it as possible and stuffed them in the freezer for a day. When he got back, he took them out of the freezer and put them back under the fan for a few days. Now they are very small and a good portion of the stems and some of the caps are very dark, even black. I recall reading somewhere that dark mushrooms generally aren't safe, but I assume this applies more to fresh mushrooms? Basically, dried mushrooms went pretty black, are they still safe? |
