question about citric acid...

Although SWIM knows that citric acid isn't always necessary when preparing heroin to shoot, he was wondering if it is harmful to put it in with all heroin. Basically, if you have a bag of heroin that doesn't need citric acid to dissolve into water would it damage the heroin at all to put it in anyway? Any information on the subject is greatly appreciated!
