Extraction - Adding a base to poppy tea

if swim was to make a batch of poppy tea with some giganteums, and added a base like baking soda, would it precipitate out any of the alkaloids?
swim apologises, he never paid that much attention in chemistry...shame, he couldve made a nice lil business. lol but really, are there any pros/cons t addin a base/acid to the tea? and does citric acid supplied to intravenous drug users to break down drugs in the water work as an acid?

never mind, have found reasoning behind adding citric to tea before extraction. and obviously the citric given to Iv users like swim for cooking up will work in any process as its an acid no matter what, thats what swim needs it when IVing for isnt it? never mind bleh

Hope this helps swim usually doesnt steep for 2 hours he usually use a cafatere as this helps to filter the nasty bits and peices.swim leaves it after he adds boiling water stirring occasionaly ats for the plant material to sink to the bottom then gives it one more final stir then he uses a tea strainer to pour into a mug then its bottoms up and ahhhhhhhhhh ........................tastes rank he say and feels amazing... have a good one!
