Unhappy LSD Trip: Not Earth-shattering or Life-changing

LSD Trip was not life changing. Sure, the paintings seemed alive and melting and breathing. When looked in mirror saw face breathe and flow. Look up at sky and saw the moon, seemed like a hole en the atmosphere from where I began seeing some strong colors, some that seemed to look like the simpsons. Felt jittery and lucid, first couple of hours felt a tad giggly. Seemed I saw eyes in the sky looking at me, felt the walls close on me. Music, especially Rap, felt Longer than usual and the verses seemed to slow down quite noticeably.

But.

No 60's type experience. No ego shatter. Went into trip with an agenda, to change my personality, that being my shyness with girls, but ended up in the same place. Did not "See" the music. Tried drawing and writing to see an explosion of creativity, but this did not come. I could barely keep the pen on the pad, but the drawings did seem a bit alive like I was drawing them and they where moving.

This is second time, is LSD no longer what it used to be in the 60's?

wondergeek added 2 Minutes and 29 Seconds later...

For all those haters out there, this Did not happen to me, this happened to
A FRIEND OF A FRIEND OF MINE.

And even then, it is only HYPOTHETICAL.

Re: LSD Trip Doubts

Acid has changed, but I think swiy is expecting too much. It's not the drug that changes you, it's what you take out of it. Next time, look deeper. Visuals don't really mean shit, but just adds to the whole mind-expansion thing of what could be. It seems like swiy's trips are hollow, and swiy is looking for life changing revelations handed to swiy on a silver platter. Revolution comes from within. find a field, meditate, and naturally what is will come into swiy's mind. This can actually be done without the aid of any drugs, but they can help.

Re: LSD Trip Doubts

Not only serious, but specific expectations will let a person down every time. No one's ever going to take a hit of LSD and see the world turn into a giant pink elephant and fly to the moon with rainbows shooting out of their fingers. But there are a lot of things that it can show one that could not normally be experienced in waking consciousness.

Seems like your friend was trying too hard. Psychedelic drugs don't care about your agenda and the more a person "wants it to work" the less they are going to see the true beauty of the experience. I'm not saying this is your situation, but SWIM has a bunch of real hard-ass friends who take LSD occasionally and they always come out complaining that they didn't see their dead grandfather eating the maggot worm corpse of Oscar Wilde's twin brother while unicorns danced on their graves. It's his opinion that people like this don't want the true experience, they just want to play hard ass and show how little it effects them. Just the same with hard ass weed smokers. I'm sure a lot of SWIMmers out there have seen people stoned off their fucking asses and trying to act cool as shit like nothing happened. SWIM wonders why do these people even spend their money if they're not going to let themselves enjoy it?

There should be a sticky in this forum that says: LSD Does Not Make You Hallucinate. It just plain don't. It distorts reality, it warps space and time, it affects the way you experience the world but it's never going to turn your friend's mom into a zebra with pink and yellow stripes. Fuck aesthetics. As Ken Kesey once said, "It's not about all the visual sky rockets and voodoo magic. The white coats [psychiatrists] could analyze that kind of stuff and put it into neat little categories. It was about THAT FEELING! That this is IT!"

And I have to say that SWIM believes whole-heartedly that LSD is just as good as it was back then if you have a reliable source. If LSD was in fact more potent in the 60's, he wouldn't want to get near the stuff.
