It is SWIM's first post on this forum. He was wondering which country is codeine paradise. In SWIM's country there are OTC pills containing 15mg of codeine + other substances like paracetamol, and if someone is lucky enough he can get 20,30 mg pills. Drugs with codeine are very cheap and easy to get in every drug store. Do you know in which country you can get OTC medicines that are as cheap and contain even more codeine?

In the UK no more than 12.8mg per tablet is allowed in OTC medicines. Prescription medicines may contain higher doses. The standard for prescription Codeine is 30mg per pill. SWIM does not know of any higher strength pills, but is aware of some Codeine-only pills, with zero other active ingredients. These, to SWIM's knowledge, are available in small packets at upto 30mg strength, but only with prescription.

SWIY could try sitting down with Google for a while. It might be worth trying the forum search engine here, although SWIM isn't aware of anyone compiling lists of Codeine laws in all countries.

Thanks for SWIY's information. Yes SWIM searched on google before and also asked the same question on SWIM's national the biggest drug forum but the replays were not satisfied enough. As far as SWIM knows from Europe, France is the country with the less restricted law about the amount of codeine in one tablet, but his knowledge in this matter ends on this.

codine laws; newzealand 20mg/tab :australia & costa rica 15mg/tab :uk 12.8mg : israel 10mg :
canada 8mg but must contain at least 2 other ingredients: germany,switzerland & austria prescription only or at the discretion of the pharmacist?: united states so complicated i cant be botherd to write the various stupid laws and sub laws..google "codine wiki"

Swim heard from another forum user that in Spain he managed to get OTC products containing 30/500mg's. But he dont know how accurate that is.

Swim would believe southeast/far eastern areas would have best access. Pharmacies are looser down there for restrictions Swim hears.

Yup, this can be confirmed, usually asking for co-codamol in a broad N. Irish accent and showing them a box will suffice. Apparently.

I know that in Germany they use Codeine instead of Methadone to treat opiate addiction. I also heard that Portugal decriminalized all drugs a few years back.

Indeed portugal did decriminalise drugs around 2001,however possession, supply and traficking are still illegal.If swiy was busted with a minimal amount you'd probably get off with a caution,busted for a larger amount and a session with the men in white coats awaits..

In Japan, you can get 180mg of safe di-hydrocodeine (with no caffeine or APAP) for $A Few To SWIM it is codeine paradise.

Just to verify: - Canada OTC Codiene is 8mg per tab.. Does NOT need 2 other ingredients,: - Only 1 = Acetemetaphin..[sp] , Although some OTC's also contain caffeine as well.

Swim use to love 30mgs, and changed to these after prescriptions ran out. Must be very careful with watching the Liver though due to tolerance build-up and the "Filler" thats supposed to keep people from abusing the drug..... I disagree with this approach myself.... Many Swimmers will take them anyway, and not calculate, or respect the other drug going through their Liver....
Both are easily available....although one usually must ask a pharmacist for them as they are OTC, but still kept behind the counter.

Swim was taking too many of these for a few years, so stopped buying them. Luckily Doctor provided Swim's current pain relief base of 200mg Oxycontin + 15-30 mg Morphine per day.

Swim is constantly changing dose amounts just to keep tolerance down, and pain relief as constant as possible, as to not have to keep upping his dose. + Swim also enjoys being able to get a buzz sometimes off them, and that is hard after taking opiates for years.... thus the dose ups and downs.... It can become a nasty vicious cycle if you can't get decent control over being able to lower and up the dose, to work/allieviate as needed/wanted

If Swim didn't do this, the Doc would be hearing about meds not working, and be hounded consistently to give another pill every 2-4 months....

In the country where swim currently lives, Saudi Arabia, there's only one type of OTC codeine.It's 500mg/30mg/8mg and there's nothing else.No aspirin containing preparations, no 15mg caffeine containing preparations...nothing.
