Can I combine DXM with alcohol?
Sure, as long as you keep it safe. A good way to look at it is that alcohol is amplified three times while on DXM. There's no scientific equation to figure out how much you should drink, but the simple truth is that DXM + Alcohol is somewhat unpredictable, but dividing your usual amount of drinks by 3 will let you have fun and remain safe. If you usually drink 9 beers, drink 3. If you usually drink 9 shots, instead drink 3. Etc etc.

Can I take DXM in a public setting?
Of course you could, but this is a VERY bad idea. I can not stress how bad an idea this is at a high dose, but even at a low dose it is not very wise. You get funny on DXM. Not funny funny, haha giggles. You're just out of wack, and sure it's fun, but getting caught is a massive buzz kill, despite DXM being legal. Also, it is a good idea to make sure you will not have to talk / interact with any parents during your trip. Even I, a somewhat "experienced dexer," overestimated myself and fucked my life up just because I got caught by my parents while on DXM.

Can I mix DXM and marijuana?
YES, AND PLEASE DO. They are amazing and safe together.

How much DXM should I take my first time?
300 mg. If you are too much of an idiot to figure out how much that is in gelcaps, syrup, etc, please put down the Robitussin. From then on, dosage is all trial and error.

How much DXM is safe to take?
Death really only comes knocking at doses around 3000 mg (of course depending on weight.) I personally would not do a dose exceeding one gram for the sake of my mind state, if mental mind fuck were not an effect of DXM I'd say around 1600...

On an off note:
I've had a ~200-ish pound friend claim to take 4 bottles of DM syrup, in combination with large amounts of alcohol. Supposedly he was trying to kill himself, but he survived and the trip made him reevaluate his life...

Can I hallucinate off DXM?
Short anwser: yes. Long anwser: Do you really want to?
To hallucinate on DXM you will go through hell and back. And that's an understatement. Quite frankly, don't bother trying to take a high dose with the intentions of hallucinating. (Not that I am recomending against high doses.)
However, even on extremely low doses, you can have semi-hallucinations. These are accomplished by either closing your eyes, or going into an extremely dark setting. Once you have adjusted to the darkness, you will most likely see patterns, colors, etc forming.

Although you can still trip off of products with other ingredients in them, DO NOT BUY, STEAL, OR INGEST ANY PRODUCTS CONTAINING ANYTHING OTHER THAN DEXTROMETHORPHAN AND GUIFASEN.

Good post man, this would be a fairly good guide for new people to follow.

True about the hallucinations on dxm, ive only had it happen once but when it does they are so real, i am afraid of sppiders and one time i came into my room and it looked like there were giant sipder webs everywhere around my room, they looked so real that i actually went around my room trying to touch them, but i realized that they actually werent there. Although this wasn't very scary, it does make you realize just how much this stuff can fuck wit your head..

The majority of this post has good information but some of it is quite misleading.

3rd Plateau dxm trips are likely to cause some damage of neurotransmitters in the brain and especially with chronic use.

Also guifisen causes quite considerable nausea so it's best avoided.

Guaifenesin should be avoided altogether. SWIMmers should strive consume medicines containing dextromethorphan as the only active ingredient. Guaifenesin in particular has some nasty side effects including nausea, vomiting and the formation of stones in the urethra. Avoid.

Agreed - very valuable post. But the acceptance of Guaifenesin threw a wet, vomit-soaked* towel on it. I'd clean that up.

* Guaifenesin is also quite capable of cause an eruption from the other end of the digestive tract as well. Let's see - in public, acting utterly whacked, wearing a diaper??

I would add a note about DXM and cannabis similar to the one for DXM and alcohol. Cannabis can be panic-inducing on a high dose of DXM (3rd plateau and above), even for those who aren't given to anxiety.

Swim found the same rule of thumb to be useful when combining dex with weed or booze: if you do a lot of one, do just a little of the other. A little dex + a lot of weed or booze is okay; a little weed or booze + a lot of dex is okay; a lot of dex and a lot of weed or booze is Bad Idea Jeans.

DXM is a very fun recreational drug, however SWIM over-used it back in the day which led to an unpleasently long-period of depression and anxiety after ceasing use, which lasted roughly 3 months until SWIM felt normal again.

Take my advice: Don't trip on DXM more than once a week at the 2nd plateau, more than once every 2 weeks at the 3rd plateau, and more than once a month at the 4th plateau, this can lead to some mental problems. DO NOT BINGE ON DXM!! ONCE A TOLERANCE HAS BUILT, EUPHORIC EFFECTS DIMINISH OR ARE NOT FELT AT ALL AND TAKES VERY LONG TO DISSIPATE!!!!! I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH LEARN FROM SWIMS MISTAKES
