Drug Induced Writing
Hey I was wondering why we don't have a spot for writing under the
influence. I have a lot of writings when I used to use. It might be cool if we had a spot for that. Maybe post something sober and then something altered, I don't know. Just a thought. Maybe even have some critiquing or something along those lines. At least some kind of literary forum I suppose. If there's already something like this I apologize but I have yet to find it. |

lol I hear you. I think half the fun with drugs will be later on
in life when you actually get to tell your kids about that stuff. They'll think they're so cool until you're like, well did I ever tell you the time when I...and then they'll be floored. I can't wait. It will be hillarious. But what kind of stuff would you write? Just lists of stuff to do? Or do you actually write down like poetry, essays, songs, or stuff like that? Anything creative I guess... |

I used to keep a journal of all my exploits so that I'd be able to remember everything worthwhile I did years later. It ended up digressing into philosophy, quantum physics, poetry, songs, etc. I would love to have a forum to share and read such things.

I've written some fucked up shit when on drugs. Some of the things that
I've written make absolutely no sense to me now, but made all the sense in the world when I was under the influence. I've also taken the time to sit down and actually write philosophical things. I enjoy going back and reading all the stuff that I've written. I always try to have a notepad and a pen around. Here is an example of some stuff that I wrote when I was completely out of my mind (100mg molly, 3.5g dried golden teacher shrooms, 800mg DXM). That was written a year ago during my first semester of college. Like I said, it made sense to me when I wrote it, but now it just looks like a bunch of gibberish. I can kind of recall some of the stuff that was written and understand it just from being there. |

Ooooh, I like this thread. Here we go: "One effect of hallucinogens is that nothing seems quite solid. Wood, steel, stone can be flexed and smudged. Press your finger into a brick wall, and it springs back to the touch. Identity, too can be shifted, smudged and textualized into something completely different. We are thrown into life with a ready-made identity, assigned to us by society – a certain religion, a certain political stance, a certain socio-economic position. We can choose to accept that or else (and this is where things get interesting) we can struggle to realise some new fictionalized us. The first task is demolish identity, to demolish all the rock of reality on which the norm rests. We’re respraying reality. It goes without saying that made-up stuff is way better than real stuff, so let’s make up reality. It’s time. Brothers, sisters of the psychedelic second wave, fictionalize the actual, smash the real, melt the solid. Drugs and text. The old, inflexible realities have failed, from the religious or political metanarratives to the quietism of modernity. What mankind needs is something more malleable, a reality we can shape to suit our own whim, a semi-fictionalised tissue, a psychedelic hyperreality." Hyperreal, that is truly beautiful. It's very rare that I read something and say "that person gets it!" Congratulations
![]() You spoke of the "psychedelic second wave." The first wave was behind the banner of LSD (with mushrooms and cannabis of course). What psychedelic do you think this wave will march behind? Last edited by ~lostgurl~; 28-07-2007 at 19:13. Reason: removing coding |

I'm willing to bet that people will start to rediscover LSD and Mushrooms. I think that Mescaline should play a greater role than it does right now. It's just as safe as the other popular psychedelics and has just as profound an effect on people. I'm not sure who will lead it though. In the past we've had Ken Keesey, Alfred Humphrey, Albert Hoffman, Timothy Leary, and so many other obvious heads. I don't think that there will be much problem with increased awareness on drugs. The past shows a sort of roller coaster effect with use and acceptance. Specifically in reference to pot, in the beginning of the century it was more accepted, then when the US began to fear it, it was deemed illegal and that it would make you insane, then when the 60s and 70s came around, use was more common and Jimmy Carter actually tried to legalize it, but then came the Reagan administration in which the "Just Say No" campaign was in effect. It goes in cycles and I think that we're past due for another awakening. It's funny...the other day I was walking with my girlfriend. We just got a cup of coffee and we were out enjoying the evening and we were talking about things in our lives and I couldn't help but feel like there was something big that was about to happen to me. I can't describe the feeling. I don't know if anyone else gets that feeling. It feels like I'd been running at 100 miles an hour and all of a sudden I've just hit a wall...but I'm pressed up against it and can feel it start to give. I know there's something on the other side but I just don't know what it is...maybe I'm reading a little too much into it but that's just how I've been feeling. I'm sorry if this all came out jumbled together. I was trying to say 100 things at once. I think you guys got what I was trying to say though. We have one part of the mix already: a controversial war. All we need now is the legal mind-altering substance, a name to go by, a leader, and the right music...(I think music played a big factor in the movements in the 60s and 70s). We have the fuel, now we need the spark. Who and what will satisfy the rest of the ingrediants? Edited by: Inferno13 |

Read my post inhyperreal's thread "Whither psychedelia?" and you'll see that I, at least, feel Rick Doblin will be the father of this next movement

Is it just me or is LSD much more mind-expanding than mushrooms? I find the mushroom trip is just a little too short for me to really get a lot done. I suppose this is also probably because I always end up doing low shroom doses due to cost issues.

No kidding. But I was wondering what it's like when a person
writes while under the influence Mescaline. I've read multiple texts written by people who used Mescaline but it was usually after the fact or it was recorded by other people. I've always assumed that a Mescaline experience would be more profound than even an LSD experience. But I have no basis for that assumption. Any experiences? |

I think that there are generally mixed opinions on the matter. I know
people who have tried both who like LSD a lot better, but I don't know that many people who have done mescaline. I think that just as some people will claim LSD is awful while embracing shrooms, some people will have a personal perference for mescaline and others won't. I think a mescaline/mushrooms combo would screw your mind into fixing itself. Or you'd die... ![]() |

Good idea for a new forum...I've wrote (or tried to) during my trips and it would be interesting to read other experiences + share my own.

Absolutely. How can we get the admin to create a new forum? Because I really enjoy writings that are done while under the influence of psychedelics, uppers, downers, anything. I have a full journal of the stuff and as soon as we can get up a new forum I'll begin posting. It'd be cool to get some feedback on some of my writings. And possibly even an explanation of the stuff that still confuses me to this day that I wrote while in an altered state of consciousness. Let's see if we can get this forum going...

Yeah I have seen sections on other forums that are dedicated to
writings of the musical, lyrical, intoxicated, etc. I think it'd be interesting to filter the writings by class of intoxicant. I can only imagine what people on dissociatives would be writing about ![]() |

I was actually just thinking that. It'd be cool to have just the one really big broad forum topic, then once the link was clicked on have the different areas: Psychedelics, Dissociatives, Stimulants, Depressants, Cannibanoids, Alcohol (I think it would be a good idea to seperate it from the other depressants), Inhalents, whatever...just a wide variety. Then each person could post what they or their friend SWIM had taken and then post the text. I'm pretty excited about this. Hopefully we can get enough people to want to post. This used to be one of my big hobbies and one of the main reasons for taking drugs. It's interesting to see the difference between the different drugs as well. My thoughts on stimulants were considerably different from depressants (obviously) but not in the sense that everything was happy on uppers and sad on downers. There are large differences between the writings including the setting, ambiance, characters, and the overall tone. I'm very interested to see other people's differences and if they have similar thoughts/experiences to mine.
