Drug info - fentanyl

Swim has asked me to inform the curious that last night he swallowed a 12 mcg/ph fentanyl patch last night and also about a week ago with good results and no concerns. Nausea was 0. The feeling very heavy he tells me. Took about 45 mins to come on and only lasted about 4 hours with after affect lasting a couple of hours after that. Practically no day after affects.

So yes, there is a better way to use the patches than just putting them on. Although he says on the flip side it is quite nice to have a nice mellow buzz for a few days too.

There used to be a big story on heroin helper about a fentanyl patch eater, i recently found it via Google Cache but now it appears to have been consigned to oblivion. Anyway, the gist of the story was someone who ate fentanyl patches fairly regularly and it eventually put him in hospital with some serious organ damage. I can't recall exactly what organ it was, i think it was the liver but it could have been his kidneys. The damage wasn't caused by the fentanyl of course but the other shit in the patches.

Anyway, when it comes to fentanyl patches i can only urge extreme caution, it can kill people really quite easily even with smoking because the doses are so low and in the micro gram range.

SWIM had a 72 hour fentanyl 75mg/h duragesic patch on whilst in police custody for the weekend. The officer that booked SWIM in (on the Friday evening, had been on for about an hour by now) thought it was a smokers patch and allowed SWIM to keep it on. It was ripped off with in what felt like 12-18 hours (Towards the start of darkness on Saturday). It was the heaviest substance that SWIM has come into contact with, (and there arn't many left to try), all SWIM can remember of the experience was being REALLY euphoric one moment (or hour(s)) and 'coming too' in MASSIVE pools of dribble the next. DEFO not suitable for a court appearance in the days to follow. Be EXTREMELY careful with this stuff. This is one of the few substances that SWIM definately WON'T be playing with again.

SWIM has a 50mcg and a 75 mcg duragesic patches that SWIM plans to use for heroin detox, any tips that might be needed in the use of these as SWIM has never tried them before.

In SWIMs experience, this is a good plan. If SWIY has a strong habit, 75 mcg/hr won't be enough to make SWIY 100% comfortable. Expect that and bite the bullet, and in a week or two the 75ers will make things OK.

SOP from the MDs when stopping these is to stretch them out to 4 days per patch, then 5, and then to stop altogether. It's easier if SWIY switches to the smaller patches and endures another weak or two of habit dial-down first. Once on the 50s and comfortable, add a day, wait until that's comfortable, add another day, etc. If SWIY can make 5 or 6 days on a patch with no problems, SWIY can stop and won't have any acute withdrawal symptoms. SWIM's done it this way many times.
