AFOAF Help with E/P/I method

Good evening,
AFOAF has been researching/ considering the RP/I/E method for a while now. And would like clarification before such materials could be wasted.

Say 100g's of Eph tablets are crushed and put into a jar. With double the volume of methanol (Swim is assuming meth spirits is the substance of choice) And shaken for around 20 minutes then left to settle before the top layer is taken off (Meth) This process will be repeated 3 times, and reduced on a electric hotplate. Then acetone is added twice the amount he believes, then allows the remaining liquid to be evaporated.
Reports suggest he will be left with 'dirty ephedrine'. AFOAF will add this to a suitable glass and add a safe amount of toluene and allow to boil whilst stirring. He will allow it settle for a few minutes then filter the solution through filters and in the paper should be left with pure EPH. This process will happen until no contaminants are found in the toluene solution. So with the clean EPH he will add distilled water and acetone and apply to the boil lightly. Then filter off the acetone (in a coffee filter) then he believes he is ready for the reaction.

He understands the 1/1/0.33 ratio (E/I/RP) and has a ice bucket prepared for the reaction flask.
He will add the respective ratio weights into the flask and place the condensor on the flask and allow distilled water to pass through to the mixture. Removing and re-adding the flask to and from the icebath for a controlled reaction! Then when the mix has slowed or even stopped he will apply to some heat to continue reaction for a hour or so...then after remove the condensor and add ice water then add the Lye (NaOH) bringing the reaction to 14pH / alkaline substance.

Now distillation can take place... With condenser and tube attached from the reaction flask to a separate vessel and heat the cooker and the reaction flask and should receive the distilled product with water on the bottom (top layer being freebase?!?)

Then to crystallize the freebase he should just throw a little toluene into jar, and then separate! Now your absolutely pure meth freebase is in the toluene.

How would he go about removing the freebase from the toluene? And are all the above procedures correct before AFOAF tries such a activity?

sorry swim doesnt mean to be a smart arse but DO MORE READING. swiy is so wrong there i dont know where to begin.
to learn the craft it is far better off UTFSE and find the info for your self and understand it fully then when you think you understand it read it again otherwise all thats going to happen is a waste of good chemicals or worst still swiy going to get hurt. try looking up STB3 for extraction methods for pills this is the most up to date method avaliable at the moment allso look up A/B extractions allso look up rp/i ratios and rxns the answers are there and if swiy get a good understanding of whats going on and need a little bit of advice and not the whole writen method PM me swim will gladly help swiy out.

swiy must get a full understanding of whats going on and the risk potential of the chemicals being used before even thinking about it.

SwiS was going to say the Exact same thing swiB!!! Not trying to be an ass, but this looks like one of the old 'write-ups' on the TOTSE board or something, just copied word for word.

Seriously, really not trying to flame. Just want to make sure people are safe! Just like swiBmk said, swiS dosn't even know where to start with this?

One big thing.....It says, get the 'controlled reaction' going till the mix slows or stops, the "give some heat for an hour or so".......sorry but this is totally wrong (alot of it is, but this is a big one)............if this was done, chances are, MAYBE a tiny tiny tiny amount of meth would form, but most of it would be unreacted PSE.

This reaction swiY are trying to understand typically takes about 24 hours to run.

SwiBMK gave excellent advice....read, read, read....then when it is totally understood, go through it again a few more times. Make sure to understand the 'tricky' or 'dangerous' parts of each step. swiY need to know what to expect.

No matter how well it is understood, when swiY actually try and DO IT....Something strange or not normal WILL HAPPEN. These are the things swiY need to be ready for and why swiY need to understand the rxn totally.
