Re: heroin pregnancy

swim would sugest you went to local C.D.T stoping heroin suddenly can be harmfull to swiys baby.prescribed methadone should help and will not harm unborn child, you should get priority being pregnant....

Re: heroin pregnancy

Opiates should not be withdrawn from suddenly when pregnant, as withdrawal could be harmful to both mother and baby

I strongly suggests your gf seeks help. There are many services that are targeted at pregnant women, and pregnant women are considered a priority (although a quick google search suggests there is nothing in hartlepool itself)

Her GP should be the first port of call is she is unsure how to access services

Re: heroin pregnancy

This SWIM was pregnant a couple of months ago. At the time she was smoking heroin everyday (around a half teenth a day).
Everyone was telling her "you better get off the gear blah blah"
all this was swimming around her head while wondering what she was doing to her baby. She couldn't stop though. She was even too scared to go for a booking in appointment with a midwife. She kept putting it off, worried about what people would say. Pregnant and a heroin addict. She thought she would have to have a termination cause the baby couldn't be born and have to go through a rattle for its very first feeling on planet earth.
One day she couldn't get any gear and spent the day in bed rattling really badly. The next day she started bleeding. She went for an emergency scan to be told that the baby supposed to have been growing for 12 weeks had stopped growing at 6 weeks.
There's no way to tell if this had been due to using heroin as there are many mothers using crack, benzos iv'ing heroin every day and their babies are born ok and then there are those mothers that do everything they should - avoid caffiene, eat a balanced diet, take folic acid etc. and they still miscarry.
But SWIM was so worried about everyone else, she should have came clean and would have got a meth script which she could still have been on now. Except she wanted to get off heroin and go to the doctor like all the other pregnant women and just pretend it never happened!
Drugs - no not SWIM
This is a big chance for SWIY to change their life. Come off the gear for good and for the baby. Go and get the help - please
