AFAIK there is no de facto test to determine the purity of powder ketamine, but if SWIY is worried about his supply then he can dissolve the K in some water (use just enough so that the solution turns clear) and cook it up again - this will remove any impurities present.

As for your second question, there is only one kind of Ketamine. Ketamine. There is veterinary grade (for use in veterinary medicine) and pharmaceutical grade (for use in human medicine), but I think the difference is purely in the labeling (I reserve the right to be wrong here...)

Ketamine is water soluble, so it should just be a case of crushing the pills, adding water, filtering out all the binders, and evaporating off the filtrate...

I don't see how this would remove any impurities?
Perhaps you could filter out what doesn't dissolve in the solution, which would take out anything water soluble - but even this won't remove anything water soluble...

I have heard this repeated many times but must disagree. SWIM has come across very different qualities of ketamine directly from manufacturers. In addition to the issue with the isomer ratio (normally higher % S+ isomer is considered much better) some batches have been brown and smelled bad, and had much sloppier drunken like effects.

SWIM suspects that since ketamine manufacture became a lucrative business in China and India many noobies started without having perfected the synthesis or using substandard precursors.

There is something to be said for a very clean batch of pharma grade snow white crystal k. Also it seems to be less burden on the liver and kidneys. Very easy on the nostrils, doesn't smell etc.

I would recommend having a chemical assay performed if you have a questionable batch.
