Powder opium?

Years ago, was my first and only time doing opium and it was a white powder. Somebody at the rave put a scoop on the bud and told me it was opium. It looked just like what Raul Duke smoked on "Fear and Loathing in LV". I looked on erowid and I don't see white powder opium, only tar and red rock. So my question is, is that really opium or some other opiate? and just out of curiosity, how would one go about synthesizing it?

opium is always a black tar substance. whatever you had could have been anything other than opium. morphine, heroin, baby powder, who the fuck knows what a random white substance thrown on top of a bowl is, especially if it's being toted as opium. I'm placing my bet on it not being an opiate at all.


You can't synthesize opium either. It's the latex secreted by the opium poppy, containing many different alkaloids and a lot of innactive plant matter.

I'm pretty sure it was an opiate because it gave me a similar feeling to what I felt when I smoked H. So my assumption is that it was probably H. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
