Storing - CWE Shelf Life

SWIM was wandering: After you extract the codeine, How long can you store it before drinking? Also, What's the best way to keep it?Do you need an ambar glass?

Glad someone brought this up My Dalek was thirsty for this knowledge also.
Even though My Dalek cant answer your question he knows you can store it for a day in a air tight bottle. My Daleks guardian takes co-codomol 30/500's (not for recreaction) and stores them in wee plastic bottles that are air tight. Some of these go without being drunk for a day or more.

Although I gather swiy is asking for alot more than a single dose or 2. My Dalek cant think of any problems no matter what the quantity if it were air tight ... right?

Actually, swim thinks there could be a lot more problems storing it even if it was airtight, for example:Light,heat etc... and he's sure there are more factors that he just can't think of right now... Just think of how well bottled medical grade syrups are and they still have expiration dates so...

when it comes to codeine phosphate or sulfate your big enemies are heat and light. codeine is VERY sensitive to heat and especially light. i have had entire extractions go bunk from being exposed to entirely too much light.

you don't have to leave it in an airtight container....in fact i would advise just the opposite...if the codeine/water soultion is exposed to air, some of the water will dissolve...which is good. if you leave it for long enough ALL of the water will dissolve and you will be left with pure codeine phosphate powder....although there will probably be some APAP or caffeine in there depending on what type of pills you did you extractions with.

if your patient enough to get it to its powder form...you can mix it with a secondary substance like benadryl, tums or valerian root and make your own gel capsules.
