SWIM had his first mescaline experience yesterday. It was great, but could have been better/stronger if he had drank ALL the tea in a shorter amount of time (took an hour to down it all; horribly disgusting). Anyway now SWIM really wants to try the alcohol extraction but he can only get a hold of fresh cactus.
What method would you suggest for completely drying a cactus (peruvian torch), so SWIM can then blend it up and try the extraction?
SwiM uses a food dehydrator. The dehydrator is adjustible and SwiM runs it at 115 degrees. This bone dries most of the material within 12 hours but some takes 24-36 hours, especially the very green part that is sheltered by the hard cuticle (waxy skin).
To prep it for dehydration...
With a sharp knife cut down the length of each valley about and inch under the surface, the idea is to reach the core but not cut all the way through.
After Swiy've cut through each valley swiy can cut all the way though the core in the cuts swiy has already made. Swiy should end up with a bunch of ribs.
SwiM then cuts away any core attached to the sectioned ribs.
SwiM then cuts away the (green part and cuticle). If done properly SwiM winds up with two flat thin strips of (green and cuticle) and then a long chunk of white flesh, the white can be left as is or cut lengthwise once more (it dries out exceedingly fast).
Then cut the strips in half widthwise so they fit easily in to the dehydrator.
Lay them out flat in the dehydrator, any pieces with cuticle attached SwiM would recommend cuticle side down so the meat is exposed to the airflow allowing for fast drying.
Once they are dry use as desired.
*With san pedro Spines do not need to be removed with this method as long as you are careful not to prick yourself, they will grind up along with everything else once dried.
*A dehydrator does not have to be an expensive thing... if a lot of people use craigslist in your area there's a good chance you'll find a cheap one there, Good Will and similar, is another place where SwiM sees them very often, very cheap!
