Purity - Crystals after Acetone Wash?

SWIM was wondering what the after results of a anhydrous acetone wash are suppose to look like. Isn't there suppose to be visible crystals?


Here is a picture SWIM took after an acetone wash with very few to no visible crystals. Is this normal or was another drug substituted for the mdma?

Keep in mind the pills were red before wash, which explains the orange color after.

Actual large crystals are the result of slow crystallization from a solution under controlled conditions. A more powdery material is what one anticipates from fast washes and/or precipitation from solutions.

SWIM once washed some pills and got a similar looking result. SWIM got from orangey pills an orange coloured powder much like the above picture.

Would that be a majority of MDMA or just fillers and inactives or other cutting agents in the filter? When you acetone wash pills, are the binders removed too? (Generally speaking)

SWIM isn't exactly sure as he washed 1 pills weighing 300mg's before and exactly 200mg's after wash. But 200mg's of pure mdma is very unlikely per pill.

So what exactly is left after the wash with acetone and why am i left with 200mg's vs around 80-120mg of pure mdma?

Any explanation would be very helpful.... Thanks

It appears that some of the tablet excipients have come over with the wash. One never knows what sort of ingredients are used for making illicit tablets. My take on acetone washing of MDMA was that it was only particularly useful with relatively pure starting material. I don't think that an acetone wash will produce pure MDMA crystals from tablets containing a large percentage of unknown inactive ingredients.

This is kinda the conclusion SWIM came to after measuring the substance. The only thing now SWIM is afraid of is what other substance/narcotic were added to the pills.

On a side note the pills were supposedly mdma and binders only "via pillreports." and SWIM knows the stamp isn't a good thing to go off, but that is why SWIM does a wash to see how much of what is in per pill... or is his conclusion completely wrong?

He seems pretty gung-ho on the results, and I see it can definitely eliminate caffeine and eliminate some percentage of inactives, which is nice. But on the other hand from what I do know I see no reason why this would remove amph/meth from tablets. It really depends on the solubility in acetone of the various stuff, active and otherwise, contained in the tablets, which is obviously unknown. Lejunk doesn't seem to make any claim towards this producing a pure product, but rather one with notably better subjective effects. Strictly theoretically, of course, I'd suggest perhaps a bioassay of some of the product - something like 100mg should give a really good idea of how "pure" the material is.

Yes. It is impossible to say what MDMA tablets (Ecstasy) is being cut/formulated with without running expensive tests. Unless one knows what is in the tablet, one cannot know if acetone will/won't extract same.

I meant sampling 100mg of the product that has now been washed. It should be fairly easy to tell whether or not it is notably weaker than 100mg of "pure" MDMA. Some other dose would suffice, but I usually consider roughly 100mg to be somewhat of a tipping point for MDMA's subjective effects.

If the tablets were cut with amphetamines I would expect they are still present in the "washed" sample.

SWIM knew what you mean, but they were very stupid. More research led to the discovery that is was in fact mcpp (piperazine) & SWIM believes an amp due to the elevated heart rate. More trash flooding the market...anyways lesson learned

Even though the pills turned out to be bunk (piperazine), radiometer missed one small detail: If a "taste-test" with 100mg were conducted , then one would need to wait at least a week before a second dosage. Otherwise tolerance would skew the results.

Did SWIY neglect to test these tablets with a Marquis test?!

That is step #1, far before thinking about washing tablets with acetone. What's the point of washing pills which contain no MDMA at all?
