many people are not aware that in most of the United States you do not need a doctor's prescription to order your own diagnostic lab studies. Like blood work and Urine tests. You may order your own blood tests. These can include Complete Blood Counts, Full Blood Chemistries...Urine. and any other lab study just about you would want.

This really empowers the patient. And I found that upon research the prices are actually very excellent at at least one quality vendor. And the labs are the same labs that the doctors send to. All you do is order your tests on line and pay. Then you go to a local lab and have the blood drawn or give urine.

Now this is not a substitute for a physician. But for an intelligent person it can be of great benefit and savings. Because the prices I saw were substantially lower than a physicians office.

So of course I cannot give a source but an Internet search looking to order your own lab tests should lead one in the correct direction.
