Mushroom Tea isn't for the Inexperienced Tripper

One day someone had a dream that they would make a tea out of pulverized dried mushrooms. He used 2 grams and steeped them in hot water on the stove for about 20 minutes. This yielded about 1 1/2 cups to finally drink. After straining away the sediment he imbibed the tea in about 10 minutes. He hadn't even finished the brew when the effect started to come on.

In about 15 minutes he started to feel nervous because it was getting really intense. He was peaking at about 20 and after 30 minutes the effects started to reverse only a little (enough to ease his anxiety and tell him that it was all downhill from here)

He was watching a movie, A Sound of Thunder, to be exact. It was very difficult to watch. It seemed like particles of matter could be seen in the visuals. He suddenly had to have a bowel movement. During this time he sat on the toilet in the dark. The kaleidoscope patterns were easily viewed this way. Also, some people claim that mushrooms invoke the logos, or language center and that at high doses, auditory hallucinations are possible. This is very true. He told me that it sounded like whispers in his ear. Hard to put his finger on but very there.

After the restroom retreat, he reclined to the couch and lay his head in his girlfriends lap. This provided much comfort and sparked great conversation. Thinking was very clear and connected. Almost like a wikipedia article, dive into a link, open a new world, pull back to where you were and move on only to dive into something else. It was thumbs up

In the end, just a warning to newbies, if you are going the tea route, proceed with caution. Luckily the guy that told me this was an experienced psychonaut.

Cheers!

I know of a group of friends who all made a bunch of shroom tea and drank it, and had a great time on several different occasions, just know what you are doing.

Did this person drink the tea on an empty stomach? If so, this would account for the rapid onset and come-up. The last time my tree took Psilocybe cubensis, the dose was 2g dried on an empty stomach and it was similar in this regard.

Mushroom tea should be weaker than the mushrooms being eaten by themselves as: A) tryptamines are destroyed by the heat of the water used and B) some of the alkaloids will remain in the sediment which is sometimes discarded.

Honestly, he can't remember if he had eaten anything prior or not. It was over a year ago.

swim prefers drinking the tea as it minimizes the come-up and makes it go by faster as the come-up is the most nerve wrecking time of the entire trip for swim. he loves the peak but hates the come-up as he almost borders on panic during it before breaking through (peak) to tranquility.
