The Effect of Drugs on the Non-neurotypical

The word Neurotypical was coined by autistics to describe non-autistics - a sort of satire to describe how they feel being labeled as pathological rather than just different. I'm using it in the broader sense, to describe "normal" nervous systems - those that lie within a few standard deviations from the mean.

I've been curious for some time about the effect of various drugs on non-neurotypicals, of whatever kind: autistics, aspies, ADDs, OCDs, schizophrenics, psychopaths, et cetera. I would like to know what drugs affect what types in the same way they affect neurotypicals, and what ones affect them differently.

Examples:

How do psychedelics affect schizophrenics?
What is a DXM trip like for someone with Asperger's?
Does MDMA make psychopaths feel empathy?

And so on. If anyone knows of any research or has any personal experience, please share.

Re: The Effect of Drugs on the Non-neurotypical

SWIM is diagnosed ADHD (don't know if that's anything SWIY is looking for) and has all the signs of asperger's, including the developmental ones earlier in his life. Along with that, because SWIM believes it to be a direct result of these diagnoses, he is very OCD.

SWIM actually finds himself to be quite fond of DXM. He has always had a weak stomach so he will only do pure powder - he's not once "robotripped" - and he believes this enhances the experience. Also, while his experiences with DXM have been beloved, they haven't occurred a huge number of times. SWIM has only ingested it about 5 times at an average intake of probably 700 mg.

At these levels, SWIM finds himself becoming immersed in the experience quite quickly. Oftentimes the dissociative feel of the come-up scares SWIM and elates him at the same time. It scares the part of him that feels afraid to truly let go of everything (one specific trip made him re-evaluate the true meaning of that statement) and it elates the part of him that desires to become more.

SWIM feels the need to be in the dark. That might be unusual. He experiences no hellish visions or demonic possessions, but instead journeys through space and feelings of euphoria usually accompany him. He's had several "visions" where he felt like he was in a trance. Out of Body experience happened once, that was interesting.

He cannot recount the visuals because he has always done it in complete darkness.

Re: The Effect of Drugs on the Non-neurotypical

after swim developed psychosis, psychedelics alone had little effect on him...apart from when weed was taken...perhaps this was more the intensity of the conversations around swim while on weed than the combination...who knows. Last lsd experience involved a lot of weed, swim's paranoia got the best of him and after awhile reality would get hit by lightening every few thoughts

swim has a degree of asperges as well, dissociatives leave swim in a pattern of measuring anything he can observe, which is very little....this happens with most intoxicated situations to swim tho.
