What is the best psytrance/trance party/place of trippage swim has ever been to?

swim went to a party on an isolated farm. There was an old nuclear fallout shelter they had converted into a kind of club. awesome music and trippy lights inside. very underground

when you enter the door they pour weed into swim's hand.

smurf has not gone to a 'psy' trance party but smurf used to go to a international venue in the centre of johannesburg called the electric work shop which had many trance parties back in 1999. the place was massive, it was a abandon power station with three levels. the top one being so high the people look like ants looking down from there. the sight of thousands of people dancing & lasers flowing & the turbo sound bouncing off the walls & the feeling of euphoria from all the energy gathered in one place from that height whilst swimming is amazing. 'there was plenty of good xtc around then too.'

the venue had huge glass windows that the sun shon through in the morning along with huge electrical turbine generators that ravers used to dance on. there were underground tunnel chambers too which provided for good adventuring. they had fire breathers/dancers with huge stillt men & lots of hanging made up funky trippy things along with visual projectors. the chill rooms had play stations & were lighten up by uv lights & white walls which was cooooool.

the best international party i would say where alot of thought & effort goes in to has to be the id&t production companies 'dance valley' in the netherlands. gatecrasher was smurfs best event at the electric workshop the resident dj's from there knew how to rock a party right.

a lovely occasion for the celebration of the hindu festival of light, diwali. It was on a loft in queens, nyc and it was beautifully decorated for the night.

on the island of Ibiza in 1993/1994, the local community and a now director of a german label set up these parties in the hills that were truly amazing, especially watching the sunrise and all the smiling faces, going for a swim in the afternoon, it was quite something. they had no name but you would get a medaillon there. they were set up by Partysan. this was the tail end of the Ibiza parties, with other orgs such as TIP ibiza, etnica GMS and Ibiza music / the tribe ibiza. by 1995/ 1996 things had definetly changed

Other good events in the same years were some events in north india (swim deliberately avoided Goa and its growing western/Israeli community) , swim went to a full moon party in Pushkar which was truly ridiculous. wouldn't go to such events in places like India now, for a number of reasons, but swim was young and had a very good time.

Detroit Electronic Music Festival was always a great time.

Accidents? Swim saw a person get carried away by stretchers because he OD's on heroin and fentanyl (it was those fentanyl cut packs that were going around at the time)

I'm not the greatest fan of psytrance, I'm more into the sounds of jungle and dubstep, but this year's Boom festival was a real eye opener.

Also, the Synergy Project at SEOne in London is quite a good party.

Swims is a toss between two events. One being the drop bass new years 2000 The second coming I believe at the alliant energy center in Madison, Wisconsin. Had Mark EG, Dom and Roland, Dj swamp, Halo. And the other being Live on the Decks 4 at the Rosemont convention center Chicago, IL 2001. Had Armand Van Helden, Rabbit in the Moon, Cirrus, Freaky Flow, Joel Mull. Its hard to choose a favorite after attending so many insane parties.

swim went to an outdoor party that was on the top of a mountain surrounded by 3 sheer cliffs. planted alot of treees. SWIM also took liquid acid for the first time. they played a track that was made entirely out of dogs barking. dammit i want that track....

My Ferret went to a festival in a forest in the irish countryside. It was amazing, lots of LSD going around! The security were amazingly cool, they basically kept out non payers/trouble makers and left the people inside the venue to their own devices! The whole thing was just brilliant! Simon Posford played a live hallucinogen set!

Not always strictly psytrance, but you just couldn't beat the Megadog all-nighters at the Holloway Rocket and Brixton Academy. Sadly missed.

Been to too many free parties featuring psytrance to recall them all, but one in a cave, one deep in a forest and one in a quarry stand out. Also a special mention must go to the Exodus crew that used to put on free parties in the South of England and on the August bank holiday weekend would have a three day festival complete with several sound systems. The police used to turn up and just roam around (for them it was an easy weekend as all the local 'faces' were out of it in a field and not up for their usual shenanigans).

Every month there's a local club that puts on a Baraka night, which is always awesome!
