Persistent Vertigo

Swim has had oddly persistent vertigo for perhaps the last three days. He smoked some extremely potent weed perhaps, 7-9 days ago, and for the duration of the summer has been drinking (and indulging in nicotine) perhaps 2-4 nights a week. He rarely has hangovers, hydrates properly, and takes plenty of vitamins, mostly B12.

Swim has been experiencing minor-moderate dizziness for most of his conscious hours. Whenever he lies down, he feels as though his limbs are sinking into the ground, if extended, and, if not, that his entire body is sinking. It's very odd. Also, today, swim has had a recurring headache, localized in the back of his head...

Any thoughts? Should swim think about seeing a doctor, or just wait it out?
He realizes no one can give him a real diagnosis over df, but is just looking for feedback.
Thanks loads,
laszlo.

So it's day four now ( he thinks), and he's still experienced episodes of vertigo.
earlier today, while getting dressed, he became very dizzy, and could barely dress himself.
he drank later that (this) night, and now he just feels drunk...
he wanted to say before that he feels as though he is on a high dose of DXM, with only the physical disassociation. Also, swim is... accustomed to fits of eye-seizures, where his eyes become uncontrolable and difficult to focus, these have been accompanying his vertigo and also occur without the dizzyness... Swim appreciates any help.

Re: Persistent Vertigo

this may sound weird but it could be anxiety related. if it were me i would make an appointment with my physician and tell him about my symptoms and lifestyle, etc

Re: Persistent Vertigo

Thanks for the reply... It makes a lot of sense that it's anxiety related, Swim is just starting school which causes daily friction, and his relationship with his parents is threatened, plus he could potentially become homeless (or at least couch surf). He hasn't seen the dr. yet, but plans to.

Re: Persistent Vertigo

Swim's never experienced vertigo when sober. he's experienced it while very sick with fever, etc., he's experienced it on DXM, he's experienced it after he spins--in all cases, he enjoys it immensely.

but he can see how it could get annoying if it was happening constantly. i would say that the situation you desribed is very stressful, so that could very well be the cause. does anyone know if some connection has been made, or if they/SWIThem have experienced it while under stress (original poster excluded)?

Alright, this is my first post, and Im only posting to say that you might have something wrong with inside your skull like a brain tumor. Eye problems is usually one of the first problems.

Problems with the teeth will also cause vertigo.

Re: Persistent Vertigo

inner ear issues as well, fluid levels etc... get a full medical check up.

last time swim got something similar was after taking zolpidem on a long flight, was sleep deprived. Apparently the zolpidem + constant vibration of travelling had this effect, when standing still swim felt he was spinning, in motion, falling backwards. But this was linked to specific causes and passed with a good night's sleep.
this could be anything, including something very serious, so get a check up

Re: Persistent Vertigo

Definitely get it checked out as everything is pure speculation. There are many things that could be going on in the inner ear to cause the vertigo (and anxiety as others have said can lead to problems).

My father suffered from vertigo and had to take tablets each day for it (this completely worked for him).

Tell us how you get on.
