My pet frog was wondering how soon she could start drinking normal amounts of water again after taking MDMA. She took it about 8 hours ago, and cannot really feel any come down. It was a pretty weak amount - she only had effects for a few hours, and it wasn't strong enough to hit the sweet spot, just made her vision go funny, and feel as if she was out of it.
Now, however, this frog is very, very thirsty, and would gladly chuck a few glasses of water down, but doesn't know if she still needs to be sparing with the amount of water she drinks. Should she wait, or can she drink as much water as she wants? Froggy wants to thank you all in advance

Re: Water and MDMA question
Water on mdma is good. Because mdma dehydrates. If you drink up to a litre per hour youre still in the safe zone IMHO...
Recomended is something like 0,5 L per hour I heard. |

Still becareful, you mightnt be high but you can still die from hyponatremia if you drink way to much water, even if your frog isnt on drugs. |

Re: Water and MDMA question
Sure one can die from hyponatremia, but in SWIMs experiance its far easier to neglect drinking than to actually drink to much. Even with 1 L per hour your body will still pee out the surplus and the osmosis in your cells wont f**k up i think.
Anyways, 0,5 L as recomended will do you just fine. And I think if you are thirsty drinking is good, I mean if you had enough water in your system your body wouldnt be telling you to drink, rolling or not, you can trust that feeling. |

Re: Water and MDMA question
I think most of the reported deaths from hyponatremia whilst using MDMA are a direct result of the media sensationalizing the deaths of those who have not drank enough, causing the users to over compensate and drink silly amounts.
For this reason giving clear and accurate information regarding this is of up most importance in the pursuit of harm reduction. I'd agree with Romie1985, about half a pint (284ml) every hour if your non-active or a pint (568ml) every hour if your dancing or moving around a lot. If you drink more a salty snack like peanuts wouldn't hurt at some point, even if it is hard to eat on MDMA. This replaces the sodium in your plasma levels that is lost due dilution by the amount of water being consumed. |

Re: Water and MDMA question
its probably not the best advice but swim use to just drink pints and cans of beer all night.
more so on the come down, swim would be bouncing off the walls if he had no cans and no smoke come 5-6 in the morning. for healths sake i would agree with a half to one pint of water an hour. |

Re: Water and MDMA question
I heard alcohol dehydrates the body... is that true or to what extent?
That would make Sirdrugalots advice quite dangerous... |

besides tell me your gonna head out for the night taking e's and drinking pints of water. the town swim lives in that sort of thing would get you trown out of the pub cause they would know your taking e's. or you could allways head for the local night club and spend your night with assholes wearing pink t-shirts, diomond ear rings and drink alcopops and bottles of water, no thanks swim would rather suffer a split lip lol. |

Re: Water and MDMA question
Hang overs tend to increase in severity with age. Young people tend to be able to drink copious amounts of Alcohol with minimal negative after effects compared to that of older generations.
SWIM only gets real bad hangovers if he mixes a stupid amount of different drinks and doesn't consume some water before bed. Usually this only results in a minor dehydration headache the next morning which lasts a couple of hours. In SWIMS younger days he always mixed large amounts of Alcohol with Ecstasy with no problems, but would strongly recommend against it. Also the effects of MDMA are so much more enjoyable when they are not dulled by Alcohol. |

Re: Water and MDMA question
Hey, my frog wants to thank everyone for the useful replies, she's been away, which is why she didn't reply sooner.
In response to the above comment, froggy has found that buying an alcoholic drink and carrying it about somewhat helps with that particular sort of culture. So thank you all for the advice, froggy will bare it all in mind. =) |

Re: Water and MDMA question
My little fishy and his friends never liked pilling in a pub. Usually they would drop there but immediately as they started coming up they would go back to a friends, crank up the wonderful tunes and enjoy the rest of the night (and following day usually).

Re: Water and MDMA question
swim barely drank any water the last time he had it.
Only water used was to wash the bombs down and take away the taste. Which dosent work |

Re: Water and MDMA question
Swim had the experience of a friend suffering from dehydration and hyponatremia both in one night. At the beginning of the night, Swim's friend refused/forgot to drink water due to her dancing, causing Swim to worry and have to take control of her. She went to a state where her eyes were rolling in the back of her head and she was sweating excess amounts which Swim was told could lead to a seizure. Once Swim finally convinced a friend of Swim's to get this friend some water, the other friend allowed Swim's friend who was dehydrated to drink a whole bottle of water in less than a minute. This resulted in Swim's friend throwing up water later into the night multiple times. Swim now knows greatly how to take care of someone and ensure that they do not drink too much water, yet they still drink water during the night. Swiy should be sure to sip water all throughout the night, but DO NOT DRINK MORE THAN 500ML(a general sized bottle of water) IN ONE HOUR. Swiy can drink UP TO 500ml in one hour, but even this is not suggested. This is all purely based on Swim's experiences.
Bare in mind that neither the dehydration or hyponatremia reached drastic heights so that Swim's friend was having any SERIOUS problems. She was lucky. |

Re: Water and MDMA question
Hyponatremia is quite a serious condition which can result in the swelling of the brain. It is usually caused by water intoxication leading to an electrolyte imbalance where the concentration of sodium in the plasma is too low due to dilution.
That must have been one big bottle of water to go from being dehydrated (where sodium/plasma concentration is increased) to the opposite end of the scale that quickly. |
