![]() ![]() This mycologist is Steven Peele He is still active in the study of mushrooms today. I believe he was forced to give up his DEA license years ago. It is interesting to note that Peele seems to indicate that spores from spore banks which store spores taken directly from wild mushrooms may yield much stronger mushrooms than those taken from those that have beed cultivated magic mushrooms. Peele is pretty much recognized as "the man" as far as knowledge of magic mushrooms goes. As a matter of fact all mushrooms. He is also interested I believe in the cultivation of mushroom for medicinal uses. I mean like legally growing certain mushrooms and selling them to large drug companies for use in the research and production of medication. As I understand it Peele at FMRC has acted as a consultant to physicians and hospitals dealing with mushroom poisonings

Re: A little Florida Mushroom History--1980s
It's a real shame they decided to revoke the license of someone who is actually helping out. The main idea is that shrooms are highly dangerous and anyone doing it might commit a crime. How long till the government sees the light (the truth).
Would like to study under him... when spongebob has his degree and money |

Well and the thing is I suspect the DEA got pissed of when Dr Peele was apparently advertising in High Times and taking people on mushroom hunts under his license. That might just not go over well with them. At least this is what I have heard. But it was a major accomplishment for a person to get a DEA 1 license and not be connected with a university. He is private. And I THINK he gave the license up. It was not taken. But he was possibly "persuaded" to do so I would assume. |
