need some chemistry help
I couldnt find the right post to ask this question lol i did search for some time.
swim wanted to know what does dry pyridine mean? is this anyhodrus pyridine or just normal pure pyridine? thanks |

The obvious answer: it means pyridine without any water in it, or with very little water.
"dry" is a relative term. "anhydrous" means no water at all, so although they mean more or less the same thing, they are not exactly the same. Pyridine will mix with water, and some reactions don't work in the presence of water. So for these you need dry pyridine. The reaction you want to use it for will control the maximum amount of water that is permissible. |
