Who Has Overcome Anxiety-Related Issues?
SWIM had a panic attack in 2005 after smoking marihuana while on DXM. SWIM went to the doctor at the time and was diagnosed with a healthy heart (fuckin' heart palpitations are _intense_, right!?). S/he stopped dosing DXM afterwards (or cut back to 177 mg doses very infrequently) and couldn't smoke marihuana without ill effects.
SWIM can't describe them [the ill effects] well anymore since s/he hasn't had _those_ symptoms for some time. SWIM's body was triggered by DXM or marihuana, even by just being in the presence of the drugs; s/he'd notice nervous/anxious/concerned/paranoid thoughts, and a tightness in the chest. After spending 9 months working through the issue (incremental daily smoking), and with help from tolerance, s/he could smoke a few bowls and be 'good'.
One hit of marihuana without tolerance, or getting to SWIM's high with tolerance, puts SWIM in a state of minor uncomfortability. S/he enjoys the slightly altered thought process, but notices unfortunate physical symptoms, likely relating to his/her anxiety trigger from over three years ago.
Mostly, it seems to manifest itself by shallow breaths, a bloated stomach, an aching, tight, sore, suffocated feeling underneath his/her left armpit towards his left pec and heart. It's not painful, but it restricts movement, and is always on SWIM's mind during the high... 'noticing it', 'being annoyed by it', 'sometimes worried because of it' feelings. It's what stops him/her from getting 'stoned', or 'baked'.
S/he feels s/he has been making good progress towards overcoming his/her issues. SWIM previously had great experiences with marihuana before his/her first panic attack. SWIM is curious to hear how anxiety manifests itself in others when high on, or around, marihuana, what they do to overcome it, success stories from those who have recovered and their techniques, and general support from others who suffer from some gosh-darn mental barrier that seems impossible to truly understand and break.
