Re: The Oxazepam Metathread

SWIM met a fellow patient in a residential psychiatric hospital who swore on his life that Oxazepam was the new wonder drug of dealing with anxiety over long periods, and claimed his doctor is a major driving force in getting this drug much more widely used to replace alprazolam, clonazepam, lorazepam, and diazepam for the everyday treatment of anxiety. SWIM's reason for this was because it was a very low risk of addiction compared to the other benzos. After he told SWIM this I requested one of the Drug Bibles the nurses kept behind the desk, unfortunetely all their books were horribly out dated. SWIM would be highly interested in finding a less addicting benzo, since his anxiety is about 95% caused by being in social situations and nothing take's SWIMs edge off better then ever a small .5mg alprazolam or 10mg of Diazepam. But if swim could get on this Oxazepam, then maybe he won't be constantly rationing his prescribed .5mg alprazolam twice per day (take as needed) which isn't enough to make it through a full school day......Shit I'm rambling, my point was, does anyone know if the low addiction rate of Oxazepam is true,or that it would be stronger enough SWIMer who can downs 80mg of Diazepam and act pretty normal.

Re: The Oxazepam Metathread

I did a quick web search and an article turned up this...

Shader RI, Greenblatt DJ. Use of benzodiazepines in anxiety disorders. N Engl J Med 1993; 328: 1398–1405.
Quote:
In Sweden, where oxazepam was prescribed more frequently than diazepam, most prescription forgeries were for diazepam. Intermediate-acting alprazolam and lorazepam appear to have similar abuse potential to diazepam.

Re: The Oxazepam Metathread

Can we try and keep this on topic please people? This Thread is About Oxazepam.

A thread with all the different brand names for various benzodiazepines would be a useful resource though: So If anyone wants to give it a go (especially including the less well known brand names) please feel free

Re: The Oxazepam Metathread

I've been prescribed oxazepam for a bit of a troublesome time. i must say they r good. cured my means of medicinal use and then some!
oh also when you crunch them they taste like nothing but filler. i thought this was odd considering diazepam can have quite a bitter taste!

Re: The Oxazepam Metathread

I find it depends on the brand what oxazepam taste like. Purata and Serapax taste totally different yet have exactly the same effect. Serapax tastes to me like a cross between diazepam and alprazolam, only much less strong-tasting than either. You can definitely tell it's a benzo, though.

Re: The Oxazepam Metathread

SWIM became interested in this drug after starting a thread on benzos which have potential for being used in patients who suffer from depression, as well as anxiety. This was mentioned, along with alprazolam and lorazepam. Is there any truth in OP's assumption that they are a non-scheduled or classed drug? Also, is it really permisable to send PM's on these forums related to sources (out of interest)?
