Combinations - Opioids and Benzos

So Swim has already heard how they potentiate each other, but never really believed that it really worked seriously, just had a lot of highness going on.

So Swim took 400mg tramadol over about 5 hours, and then took 1.5mg alprazolam over a 2 hours too. He's thinking adding another .5mg. He also had 4mg loperamide. He totally noticed that he is almost nodding with the tramadol, which he has not in months. Harder to focus his eyes, like he was doing a larger dose of a stronger opiate. The 1.5mg is oral, and not causing any problems with memory for him at the moment, he is completely clearminded and calm. He uses rarely also, to note, no more than 1 serious drug a week (Serious= amphetamines, coke, opioids, benzos, etc) but smokes pot pretty often. Daily usually.

Swim wonders how safe is mixing benzos and opioids, other than the obvious CNS depression. Is it alright to do in reasonable amounts? For example, 2mg alprazolam with say, 40-50mg hydrocodone. Swim starts to nod on hydro around 80-90mg, it's hard for him to nod on it, which is weird I think. Does nodding increase with combining?

Just to note, mixing pot and opioids does not work for Swim, the pot makes Swim unable to feel the opioid.

Sorry if this has been answered, but Swim can't find really conclusive answers other than "Dont mix them, CNS depression, blah blah blah." Anything else to watch out for?

Swim found out that the doses mentioned in the OP were so high because Swim developed a nasty permanent mental tolerance.

Having mixed the two a few times more, Swim really suggests to not do this. The danger really does have it's risks. Swim has gotten darn close to OD before from combining depressants.

CNS depression can be surprisingly dangerous.

Also, Swim highly, highly recommends that if someone is going to do this, they 1) Have a SOBER sitter trained with IV usage and 2) Keep Flumazenil and Naloxone around, to reverse overdose of both drugs. Flumazenil for benzos, and naloxone for opioids.

Swim has never had a benzo potentiate an opioid so much that he had to lower his dose. Maybe SWiY's nodding from the tranquilizing effect of the benzo, and SWiY's just feeling sleepy?

swim loves opiate benzo synergy though, there is definitely something lovely about the combination.

Lowering the dose is highly suggested; perhaps Swiy has a different tolerance.

Combining benzos and opioids causes narcolepsy in Swim, which sucks and is a waste of both drugs.

This swim can agree with fully. I think in his case it's more dependent on the benzo dose, seeing as he has a lower tolerance to them than opioids.

Swim fav combo is oc and xanax. But swim takes the oc first which kinds of give energy and then the xanax 2 hours or so in. Cuz it really does cause narcolepsy lol.

Swim has took heroin with benzos on a few ocasions. If swim takes to much of the benzo he looses his memory which swim considers a waste because he cant remember the buzz, but its very enjoyible if swiy gets the dose right (more nodding). Also swiy should be carful combining opiates with benzos because of increased risk of ODing.

Caveat Lector. This lying rambler speaks....

Benzos (with or without opiates) in even fairly low (10mg valium etc.) doses will knock me straight to sleep if I've not used them for a while. But after a few days I can tolerate fairly high doses with or without opiates. This combination is one I used daily for a couple of years, and I think it makes wasting your life even easier than just using opiates alone. I don't think the high is any better than opiates alone, I just drifted into the combo when large doses of methadone/heroin were not doing much. The standard warning is of course to underdose until you're sure you've got a handle on your tolerance. But you can combine stupid doses of both with practice. lol. My own personal warning: this is a bitch combo to get off. Even getting off the benzos whilst maintaining an opiate addiction can be really tough. I always thought it's no problem, when I cut out the benzos, I'll just take sufficient opiates to kill the anxiety. But opiates (and this surprised me, but I guess they have totally different mechanisms of action so it shouldn't really be a surprise) DO NOT trump benzos. No matter how much you up your opiate dose you will still feel anxious to a level that is no picnic (at least if I'm representative). Be careful. I think this combo is probably the worst to come off(unless you're going to throw barbiturates in too - yes I did that on occasions too. I once ended up in a Berlin hospital handcuffed to the bed after going in methadoned/benzoed/barbed to try to score morphine from a doctor who asked me what day of the week it was and what was 7+4 to which the answers were I don't know and 12. I was working on a maths PhD at the time. The scary thing is that I thought I was totally normal. Go real real careful with that triple). Benzos simply aren't that euphoric, the only point of this combo is oblivion/numbness.

Swim WISHES he could take one 10mg Diazepam,or ANY LOW DOSE BENZO and feel it!!!??? Swim had to take 4mgs of Alprazolam his 1st time trying any benzodiazepine about 5-6 years back and swim was pissed cause the effects are SOO TRANSPERENT!!!??? Of course all swims budies were KNOCKED OUT off 1-2mg of Alprazolam!!! GRRRRRRR!!! haha

Swim learned eventually that benzodiazepines really don't produce any euphoria??? He learned to appreciate them by really seeing it worked wonders on his anxiety!!! However swim hasn't been able to get "high" EVER on benzodiazepines but did used to love mixing Alprazolam between 4-8mgs with 40mgs ofOxycodoe tht he was addicted to for almost 6 years!!!

Swim thinks he has a natural GABA tolerance and also has bad enough anxiety and panic attacks that ALOT of the dosage he took would make him feel "normal" and only a little bit was doing something recreationally!!!???

Swim is now on benzos and is RX'ed 3mgs Klonazepam a day (2mg pills), and Alprazolam 3mgs a day (1mg pills)... Swim now has life satisfaction and doesn't have to abuse drugs to get through the day anymore!!! Phweeeeew!!! Swim DOES NOT ADVISE TAKING THE DOSES DESCRIBED HERIN FURTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Swim HAS TO TAKE AT LEAST 14mgs of Alprazolam alone,or Klonazepam alone, or a mixture of both toget to 14-20mgs!!!??? Swim IS NOT LYING and really takes these doasges to ULTIMATELY CHILL AND PASS OUT!!! Say if swim were to take, hmmmm? Lets say Diazepma (Valium) he would probably have to take upwards of 180mgs to notice anything further than therapeutic feelings!!!???

Swim is going to say AGAIN... DO NOT TAKE NEAR these doses unless swiyou have a MEGA-TOLERANCE like swim has!!! PLEASE!!!

Swimis currently on 10mgs Klonazepam, 3mgs Alprazolam, and 45mgs of Oxycodone IR 15mg, about to sniff the other 15mgs he has left!!!
