Diphenhydramine.. Ambiens dark brother?

Swim was recentally looking up information about ambien and found out that the hallucination caused by consuming alot of it are "Light-Based" As Diphenhydramine is known to be dark-based "They happen more in dark" So Swim was wondering if anyone else find this interesting? Or if swim is mis understanding the meaning of the word light-based.

Swim has found ambien(zolpiderm) and diphenhydramine to be similar in the fact that the hallucinations they cause both work very well by candlelight.Swim has also had some very intense and somewhat frightening experiences from combining the two.

Re: Diphenhydramine.. Ambiens dark brother?

From what I've read and what SWIM tells me, diphenhydramine's hallucinations are extremely uncomfortable and seem to cause something similar to apperceptive agnosia, but not quite.

For example, someone hallucinating from diphenhydramine might intend to turn on the light. He will see the light switch and reach for it. He will see his arm and thus guide it towards the light switch. To his surprise, he feels no tactile response when his hand should touch the light switch, because it doesn't. He sees his hand pass through the light switch and soon feels the wall. Indeed, he has to find the wall and feel around for the light switch as if he were blind in the first place.

Someone else, hallucinating from ambien, actually does experience the most vivid hallucinations in low-light. They seem to happen from television or computer screens, or patterns in the carpet/couch/wallpaper. I would venture a guess that these things require slightly more visual processing for the sober person to see them correctly.

Besides that, ambien seems to be a lot more pleasant than diphenhydramine.

Re: Diphenhydramine.. Ambiens dark brother?

with diphenhydramine, you're so out of it, you could really give 2 shits about everything, but at times can seem a little less comfortable. But the inability to judge things like lightswitches, very true, unless the lights are on. But it feels like you go right through the wall, and if you're trying to navigate through turns and such, your perception and judgement is impared like you're passed out drunk. And it seems like swim can see better with his eyes closed at times, but realizes that he's not even in the right spot.

Swim has found there to be little visuals with the lights on. and he really doesn't want to be in the light whilst under the influence of Diphen, auditory hallucinations are still in full effect no matter what he does though.
