SWIM spent $4500usd(including round trip plane tickets) on an Ibogaine clinic in Mexico. The clinic provides place to live, food, doctor, and counseling. It was an ideal place to forget all about addiction and bad habits though.

A miracle more people would know about if it wasn't for the US government keeping the testing they did with it in the 60's so secretive. Why cure people when you can keep them addicted with methadone. But the word is getting out and SWIM here knows how well it works first hand and wants to spread the healing love with as many folks as possible.

Take a capsule or two. With a desire to quit. And basically trip your socks off for 2 days. After which/during which no withdrawl occurs. Works like a charm. IF (BIG if) you want to stop and withdrawl is a bitch.

Allowed in many nations - but the USA blocked it's use by declaring the active alkaloid in the Tabernanthe Iboga bush - Ibogaine - a Schedule 1 controlled substance in 1970. Why? No one can prove any good reason. It had NEVER been a drug of abuse. Anywhere.

Swim had a friend she was a forensic chemist. She went to mexico and had this done. First time she called after the experience and told swim how amazing it was and how she was so looking forward to living clean and sober. One month later she was shooting dope.

Swims friend went back to mexico and had it done a second time about 3 months later. This time she called and said the same thing.. She had some special sound in her voice which swim attributed to the psychedelic afterglow. 3 months later she was shooting dope..

Swim came to the conclusion that this is an excellent tool to interrupt an opiate addiction.

But it comes down to how much does swiy really want it after the afterglow and experience wears off.

The key is Do You Really Want To Stop?? If yes - this will facilitate it. That's known. If you'd be happy enough with government methadone...well then...don't bother. Nothing will change you. Only you can do that. And if you wish to maintain an addiction? Fine. Just don't try to steal my bicycle. Or my neighbor's.

For those who had ibogaine therapy for chemical dependency, you will now be free of your addiction, free of withdrawal symptoms, although minor symptoms may exist, and free from cravings."

The clinic (a big converted house - http://www.awakeninginthedream.com/) provides place to live, food, doctor, counseling, is run by an American guy and his girlfriend. The house is in San Pancho, an enchanted little town unfortunately being taken over by tourism. It was an ideal place to forget all about addiction and bad habits though.

When SWIM arrived there they stabilized him on morphine and oxycodone for 2.5 days. On his third day SWIM was given no opiates as one needs to go about 24 hours without opiates before using Ibogaine.

First they gave SWIM a small taste of the ibogaine(in extract powder form), SWIM was told it usually tastes like the users drug of choice, to SWIM it tasted like cross between cocaine and heroin(his drugs of choice). Then a very small dosage was given to SWIM to make sure SWIMs body and ibogaine synergized well, which it did(it does for most people).

After the test dose had kicked in(about 2 hours later), SWIM was given 7mg (about 3 gelcaps full of the powder extract) at about 6PM. SWIM was laying in his bed when the effects began to take hold. SWIMs limbs began to feel very heavy and had a kinda drunk intoxicated feeling along with a buzzing noise in his ears that was getting more intense as the Ibogaine kicked in more and more(this is typical and sounds a lot like an insect like cicadas buzzing). SWIM also noticed colors beginning to flash and some distortions and patterns on the walls.

After about 1.5hrs SWIM was given another 7mg. The whole time there was Bwiti indian music playing which made it extremely intense! SWIM was seeing faces like masks kinda on the walls and ceiling watching him, colors were much more intense like on mushrooms or LSD. SWIM managed to stand up at one point and walked out of his room into a living room with two couches where SWIM saw a witch like person sitting in between the American hosts on the couches there to trip sit SWIM. SWIM left that room and went back to his bed.

Unfortunately SWIM has very white skin and had gotten sunburned few days before using ibogaine so during the trip the sunburn was extremely uncomfortable, SWIM was in a lot of discomfort during the trip. It is not a recreational psychedelic, not like LSD or mushies, but more in line with DMT. SWIM doesn't remember the second half of his trip, he went out of body or fell asleep SWIM guesses...

The American male host said that during the session he had to chase an evil spirit away from SWIM, he said the spirit even had a putrid smell to it. SWIM is kind of skeptical about though.

SWIM woke up the next morning at about 7AM and felt extremely cleansed, happy, and relieved. He felt reborn, and like a huge weight had been lifted from SWIM. SWIM had no physical desire to use opiates from then on and as every day passed SWIM felt more alive and free although SWIM was in a fair amount of physical pain due to not feeling his body and abusing it for 4 years on opiates.

SWIM was given a few booster doses of ibogaine(like 3mg) 4 days after his big dose and this was very recreational and spiritual. On these small doses SWIM saw a lot more faces on the walls, one of which appeared a few times and SWIM recognized it as a past kitty he had that had passed on about a year earlier.

Supposedly the Iboga plant has the spirit of a black medicine man which some have said to have seen when using Ibogaine. SWIM didn't see him though...as far as SWIM remembers. It is way feckin intense though, again SWIM would never take it for recreation except at very low doses.

SWIM was in Mexico for two weeks straight and regrets not having a longer aftercare program because it was very hard coming home to his old environment. Quitting on Ibogaine is the easy part, staying quit and not relapsing is the hard part. Extensive counseling or some kind of retreat after using Ibogaine is highly recommended so one doesn't go right back into their old habitual/unhealthy environment of using friends being around SWIY/M.


That's SWIMs experience, SWIM typed it up very quickly so sorry if it is confusing or jumbled in parts. SWIM just wants to get the word out as much as possible about this stuff because it works so amazingly well and SWIM hates how methadone clinics still keep people trapped in their addiction. Methadone clinics are evil(in SWIMs opinion) and the Ibogaine cure is the best thing SWIM has ever done for himself.

Do you suppose SWIM could revise his tale to reflect actual amounts taken? It keeps stating 7mgs - which I know is incorrect. A milligram is 1/1000th of a gram. Could it be 700mg (milligrams)?

I took a total of about 30mg , about 17mg the first day and 3mg boosters in the following days until I reached 30MG. must have been some higher grade extract than what you are thinking of.

An average dose of pure ibogaine in treatment of addiction is between 1,000 and 2,000mg.

SWIM spoke with the person who hosts the Ibogaine clinic SWIM went to and a few other people and they all said that that average dose of Ibogaine for a person is 15mg-30mg(of ibogaine) per kilo of body weight. So dosage has a l0ot to do with the individuals body. This is usually about 1-2 grams total when you do the math so we were both right, we were just talking about different ways of measuring dosage.

SWIM is 6'2" weighs about 190lbs and he did a total of 33mg/kilo of body wieght.

nothings 100% succesful, and is somewhat dubvious as to some claims to it, seems like some of it is just hype from psycedelic fans. though he is very interested in learning about what neuro mechanism it works on to interrupt opiate withdrawl/addiction. thanks for the link swim will definitly read it.
swim heard the same thing about a miracle drug to cure opiate addiction, the drug was dxm, without getting into to much detail all it did was worsen his withdrawls.

Ibogaine is 100% successful in curing addiction.. weather you stay clean afterwards is a whole other story and is probably more like 30% successful. SWIM never said you won't relapse after you do ibogaine. That is up to the individual and their aftercare plan. which SWIM highly recommends after doing ibogaine.

I find your skepticism kinda screwed up sense that site you posted is the only prominent source of Ibogaine not working.... Most all the other sites are positive or neutral.

If one short straw out of a bunch of tall straws is all it takes for you to say no then you should work on your positive attitude sir.


All I can say is those people are probably affiliated with the government/methadone system. OR.....

That or they are the dudes who you see in the USA in the middle of no where using "ibogaine" to cure themselves by themselves or with a group of junkies all looking to "cure" themselves. Often with a substance they aquired as Ibogaine but is either raw plant, or not Ibogaine at all.

This is because of the strict legal status of Ibogaine (scheduled with Heroin and Meth), there is a lot of fake "Ibogaine" that is being sold in the USA. Mainly to desperate addicts who have heard of Ibogaine but decided to take treatment upon themselves without the proper medical exams that Ibogaine treatment centers require a person to take before an Ibogaine treatment to make sure everything will go well.

Many people have died from Ibogaine because of this, used Ibogaine improperly or what they used wasn't Ibogaine at all. If you look into the treatment programs the success rate with them is actually 99%. If you look at the success rate in the rigorous testing that the government did with it, it was probably about 95% successful.

Then if you look at the total success rate including people who think they can use Ibogaine recreationally, or on their own you will find this alone lowers the entire success rate to like..80%... Still not a bad number, then again only about 5,000people in the USA have ever even tried Ibogaine.


All I'm trying to do is help people by spreading the word about something that completely changed my life so much for the better I still can't believe it. And it's my first hand experience. you aren't read these words off some heroinhelper website probably created by the government.

It's been about 10 months now. SWIM dabbled with some H a few months ago (after the ibogaine treatment) and it made him depressed and brought a lot of bad memories back. He hasn't even thought about trying it sense.

I've quit opiates about 8 times not including using Ibogaine. Relapse is a tricky thing though, a lot of people say it's the hardest part. If you haven't ever done psychedelics then you will probably be skeptical. Those who have tried psychedelics know what they are capable of in terms of mind expansion. If you have a hard time not thinking about using(or dreaming about using) then Ibogaine is extremely helpful.

I don't care what you guys think, I know how well the stuff works and so does anyone else out there willing to give it a chance.

But until you try it I would not talk so big. There are too many ignorant people talking like they know what they are saying, spreading misinformation.

I second that. Misinformation can be life threatening in this forum, especially if it concerns doses.

I think the dose discrepency may be because one person is talking about iboga root bark extract and the other is talking about ibogaine the principal alkaloid (or one of them) in iboga. 1000mg of dried powder might well equate to 30mg of ibogaine. But let me stress this is simply speculation.

It may or may not be true that....

I used LSD quite often when using opiates, and often ended up interupting my habit for a few days. I wonder, but very much doubt, whether any one has done a (double blind placebo controlled) comparison between LSD and Iboga, or between Iboga and other psychedelics of comparable strength.

What I'm trying to get at is this: is Iboga an effective treatment because of the psychedelic experience in itself or does it have specific efficacy as a treatment for opiate addiction? Personally I'm sceptical that it's a wonder cure, but addiction is a difficult disease to treat and the more arrows in the medical community's quiver the better peoples chances.
