fentanyl patch..any advice

Swim just got a hold af a fentanyl patch. 75 mcg. Swim has never taken fentanyl before but swim has a relativley high opioid tolerance. If swim wanted to use the patch sub-lingualy, how much would swiy reccomend swim start off with. Someone told swim to cut the patch into quaters and slip one of the sections under the tongue. Any advice would be helpful. Also, could swim use the patch multiple times if swim decided to go the transdermal route. It says on the patch its good for 72 hours but swim was wondering if you could break that up into multiple sessions. Thanks and sorry for gramatical errors.

SWIM would go that rout although SWIM has also heard of smoking them.If used Transderm. There is always a possibility of another, not as strong,sub-lingual session.

Re: fentanyl patch..any advice

if SWIY wear them SWIy can take them off and put them back on
but once SWIy take it off it doesn't stick like it used to
SWIM's never used them sublingually but he's trying the smoking route tonight for the first time he'll let you know how that goes when he's happily sedated

if SWIY decides to just wear them SWIy can heat them up with a hairdryer and they will absorb faster

Although it's quite hard to "OD" while smoking ,SWIM needs to be careful especially with fent.It can be quite a kick in the ass .

Re: fentanyl patch..any advice

SWIM use to cut them up into 1/16ths and would take about 4+ at a time.

Forgive swim if i have misinterpreted this statement but smoking fentanyl can carry a HIGH risk of overdose,Again i am sorry if i have mis read this, but if i haven't then this is stupid advice to give out as there is no way of gaugeing how much fentanyl will actually be administerd...
We have no idea of swiyleonb80's real opiate tolerance relativley high??could mean they smoke 10% pure H once a week..
Of course smoking is far safer than iv,but please be carefull fent is APPROX 30 times more potent than heroin and 90 times more potent than morphine, so take small portions at a time (1/10th) of 75mcg patch smoke and feel the effects, one can always re-dose.....
NO DISRESPECT SWIYMEKONE and i am sorry if it comes across this way..
Regards......Q

NO,no.no disrespect taken. This is exactly what SWIM ment.As far As IVing -vs- smoking that is what swim ment.Of course it is quite easy to Od on fent but what Swim was refering to was the fact that it is easier to OD on IVing and Sublingual than it is smoking especially if done in moderation.

Re: fentanyl patch..any advice

Hey SwiQ,
I have this furry lil friend who's been on fent patches for almost 10 yrs now. (25-125mcg's) Actually, she came OFF of them for about 4-5 months and just 2 weeks ago, went back on them. (The little thing was getting NO relief from @80mgs methadone and 50-80mgs of oxycodoneHCL She came off the meth and doc decreased her oxy to *30mgs* with a 25mcg patch. She's been mainly bedridden ever since--extreme pain AND withdrawals)
My friend is realizing that her tolerance--even to something as strong as fent--is UNREAL!! When able to, she has tried sublingual as well as smoking. (Thanks to another forum here ) HOWEVER--even after extracting from one full 25 patch and 4 used 25 patches--she had absolutely NO effects what-so-ever--and is, as usual, VERY frustrated and tired of the pain.
Over the past 10 years since doing most avail. scripts of opiates--in one form or another--she HAS learned that at least fent dulls it a LITTLE--when she's on a decent dose.
Sublingual has worked for her better than dermal AND smoking. After going through these threads however--one thing is for sure. One mans trash is another treasure--so to speak--whether one uses for pain or pleasure. Past medical experience as well as personal experiences taught swim that what one may OD on, another will have NO effect.
My friends son took some percocet, (20mgs) several months ago. Although he'd had NO opiates, EVER, before, it had absolutely NO effect on him according to his girlfriend. Others that also did it that night were spacing out, nodding, feeling VERY warm and fuzzy--not her son. If anything, he says it made him more awake and alert--but he wasn't sure if that was the perc--or just had more energy compared to everyone else.
A few weeks later, my friends son took 2 klonopin, (not sure of mg). His friends, who took the same amt. all fell asleep. Her son was apparently running around his apt. complex, pool, hot tub and weight room,...naked as a jaybird--till morning. My friend says that as much as she loves her son--she's kinda glad he was thousands of miles away from her small town when this happened. She has since spoken to her son,..and he is saying that, for the near future anyways, even when in real pain,...he's going to stick with a few beers and a joint. She feels like that's a VERY wise decision right now. He HAD contemplated trying fent.--but, with that *unknown*...it's probably better not to right now.
My friend wonders if there's ever been any studies concerning any genetics of tolerance--perhaps that would make it a LITTLE easier to gauge responses to these things?
Oh..but, finally--whatever swiy choses to do--GO SLOW and try just small amts. at a time!!! Fent OD's are NOT "pretty"!!!!
Peace
