How much Oxycodone for Migraine

Alright,
SWIM is a hardcore migrainer and the pain it gives him can be so powerful he goes to bed after taking his 3 advil liqui-gel and curls up into a small ball and just whine because of the pain.

So SWIM's friend had a hookup for Pharms but had lost it. SWIM kept asking his friend for his number so he can get his hand on some Oxy or other powerful painkillers for his migraines.

SWIM's friend just found it and SWIM
was wondering how much he should take to take the pain away.

He was also wondering if snorting it (for faster effects) would give the same pain killing ability as just taking it orally?

Thanks for the info!

Re: How much Oxycodone for Migraine

SWIM would be advised to take 5 to 10mgs (milligrams) of oxycodone at the first signal of the migraine. Oral administration is fine. And SWIM is advised to see a doctor who specializes in migraines - they do exist. Once the pain aspect of the migraine has been vanquished, the rest follows in short order. Migraines are absolutely devastating. I can fully sympathize with SWIM curling up and moaning or whatever. Have SWIM see the doctor and get what works prescribed legally.

Re: How much Oxycodone for Migraine

None! You should be going to a doctor and getting it treated. I suffer from acute migraines and cluster headaches, I feel for your pain and they have other drugs which while not narcotic, help the migraine a lot better than simple pain relievers. They actually treat the migraine instead of just numbing your pain sensors. I take Axert when I get a migraine, and I go curl up and die temporarily when I get a cluster headache. That's my advice, the Axert seems to greatly help mild to moderate migraines, and it lessens the severe ones. I'm sure there are other types out there, but you should be getting it treated instead of self-treating.

Migraines are horrible and need to be addressed. They can also be signs of a greater problem, so it's even more vital to confront the problem.

Re: How much Oxycodone for Migraine

Swim and is mother both get severe migraines and a percocet (5/325) usually does the trick. Swims agrees with panther007 bout seeing a doc but many doctors, even specialts are extremely hesitant to prescibe narcotics. Swims mother only gets about 15-20 a year.

Re: How much Oxycodone for Migraine

ya most migraine pills I have seen are the Butalbital, Codeine, Caffine, acetaminophen combo. I would say 5-10mgs of Oxycodone would be the starting amount for anyone new to opioid's. I read somewhere on the net they use to prescribe Oxycodone for migraines.

Re: How much Oxycodone for Migraine

SWIM is prescribed fentanyl & methadone for neuro pain but they have no effect on her migraines, she uses a prescribed nasal spray (sumatriptan) for these and it works in about 15 minutes.

Re: How much Oxycodone for Migraine

SWIM had the worst migrane she'd had for nearly ten years. It started on Friday. The first indication that one is coming on is that SWIM cannot see right, like a light has been shone in her eye and a piece of her vision is missing. Squiggly jagged patterns started growing in her vision. She stopped driving and went into the sunbed where she was going anyway.
The visual disturbances died down enough after the sunbed to allow her to drive home. At home numbness started on her hand and in her mouth around her gums.
and the headache.....oh it started then about 4pm and it was like someone had played football with her head. She couldn't bear it. It went on until Sunday morning very bad and SWIM ended up having to drink 25mls of methadone on fri night and another 25mls on sat to go to work. The second dose on Saturday seemed to do the trick however everytime SWIM stood up from being down low it was like she her head was pushed down on a vice Hope that dosn't happen again anytime soon
SWIM get Naratriptan from her doctor for this - and it does BUGGER ALL
Everyones migranes are caused for different reasons though. Some are foods, low blood suager, too much caffiene, female hormones not enough sleep, stress and narrowing of the blood vessels in the head. So perhaps everyone responds differently to treatments

Re: How much Oxycodone for Migraine

Yup, don't self medicate for migraines, it does not work out the best.

A doctor can help more here than any Swims. Migraines are nothing like normal pain management, in Swim's experience.

Swim would personally use 20mg, but he would just be upping it from other doses listed here to get a buzz =]

5-10mg should work well. 10-15 if high weight or known high opiate tolerance.
