Reminder of an opiate addiction long gone

Roughly about 2 and a bit years ago SWIF was undergoing a pretty rough opiate addiction with IV morphine as well as various other bit of recreational drug use. He went through cold turkey and eventually manage to recover completely and hasnt used opiates since which is a real achievement for him. Some forum members might recall some of the posts I made long ago concerning this.

A big part of the recovery was meeting some new amazing people coupled with his first few experiences with MDMA after a period of opiate addiction, depression and Post traumatic stress. SWIF's life became infinately better, he did party for a while and he's done some crazy things over the time, but he's mostly settled down now with the occasional drug experience every couple of months especially with new materials he hasnt tried before.

But just over a week ago he had to have an operation, Frenulaplasty, for those that dont know what this is it's linked to a man's foreskin being overtight and it relieves some of the presssure by cutting and lengthening the frenulum ie the male banjo string of the penis. Regardless SWIF was very worried as any man would be about having his member operated on, he was to go under a general, he was sat in the pre-op anesthetic room when the anesthetist announced that he was going to give him some IV fentanyl now and some IV morphine when he awoke for pain. That same familiar rush lurched up his arm, that relaxed loving feeling, that apathy with everything and anything that had captured him so tightly just 2 years before. But something was differant the feeling wasnt the same, it made him feel a little sickly like having too much chocolate. After the op he was given morphine and actually disliked the experience a little bit, This was a major milestone for SWIF, he'd always believed that once someone had tried and especially if they'd got addicted to the opiate needle they always would be but for him it looks like SWIF's overcome it.

Just wanted to share this in case people out there are looking for a little bit of light in the darkness that it is there.

All the best

Re: Reminder of an opiate addiction long gone

the similar feeling of the IV use not being fun anymore is kinda like what my monkey told me....he said that after 5 years of IV heroin use, and trying to get clean the last 2 years of those 5, when he relapsed and did heroin, it was not fun at all....my monkey wasn't sure if that is because of the mind change thing like NA preaches where once you enter the rooms, using will never be the same but anyways, my monkey has been clean from opiates for a little bit over 4 months now
