What has happened to SWIM - opiates having little effect.
So SWIM is a daily user of codeine and oxycodone, his usual dose is around 500mgs - 600mgs of codeine through careful CWE and 30mgs of oxy and that will get him pretty fucked up with a good nod.
But the past four days both are having little effect on SWIM, today SWIM got fed up and took double his oxy dose(was careful and titrated up) with a little more codeine, a dose that 5 days ago probably would have put SWIM into OD and it did pretty much nothing. SWIM cant think of anything that has changed, diet, lifestyle dose timing or anything. SWIM is going to take a break from the opiates, SWIM is quite good with withdraws. So he might be able to get back to a high state again with them. But what is going on? Has SWIM simply reached a high point of tolerance? Thanks for any advice. |

Sounds like your friend swim has a tolerance issue. Still I would be careful with dosing. Tell swim to give it a rest for a few days and maybe the effects will come back.

Re: What has happened to SWIM - opiates having little effect.
opiate tolerance developes very fast, if swiys physically addicted swim would suggest slowly lowering your dose as to avoid intense withdrawls, then after swiy slowly detox take a few days to a week off all opiates to get them fully out your body, then start slowly using again if thats what you really want, but dont go right back to your reguular dose, thats how most over-doses occur (addict stops for awhile then go right back to there reg. dose then od), start slowly again like to did in the first place.

Re: What has happened to SWIM - opiates having little effect.
what SWIY is describing sounds like a developing tolerance. when the opiate receptors in the brain are bombarded with un-natural amouints of opiates/opioids, opiate receptors become desensitized and begin to dwindle away. stopping the use of opiates allows the receptors to return to their natural state. this is all the result of the body's attempt to maintain equilibrium.

Swim gets even some tolerance from using once a week.
Using more than one day in a row is really asking for it with just about drug. |

Maybe try doing them on an empty stomach or even potentate them with dxm or grapefruit juice. Or try df118s. Swiy has the old tolerance blues mate. A few days abstaining should lower it a little but you are going to feel like shit while swiys waiting.

Yes, I've heard bad things about addiction to these. Personally, my cat always takes a quick spike in tolerance as an indication that he should stop for a while with any drug.
Cuddles the Fox, watch out for self-incrimination. Just keep swimming and you'll be fine. Last edited by The Dreamer; 29-08-2008 at 19:14. |
