So there are a lot of threads discussing the studies that claim that "higher potency skunk" which is supposedly a new development, can increase chances for psychosis. This has been largely discredited as flawed experimentation and drug war influenced propaganda, which I personally agree with. What interests me about the studies though is their hypothesis that cannabidiol decreases psychotic effects. Putting aside questions of psychosis, it does seem that the level of CBD present in the herb can alter the subjective high that results. What convinced me most strongly of this is this video, which shows an experiment where a woman is given THC as well as a 1:1 ratio of THC:CBD administered intravenously on two seperate days.
I was wondering what people make of this. Could her drastically different experiences be due to the presence of CBD, or perhaps due to the fact that THC (like psychedelics) can produce a wide range of effects depending on set and setting? Was she maybe just in a worse mental state to begin with during the second, pure THC test? Could there be a recreational benefit to smoking buds with a more balanced THC:CBD ratio? And finally, are there any strains that are known for having a well balanced ration of THC and CBD?
