New to Prozac (Fluoxetine)
Hi, Ive been taking Prozaz 10mg for a month. I noticed benefits even on this small dose. Last week my doctor wanted to increase to 20mg. I didnt feel I needed to increase but took the prescription anyway. I never filled it and feel that 10mg is fine for me. What Id like to know is- does Prozac present an issue of tolerance? If I feel 10mg is fine enough for me can I just keep taking 10mg or will its benefits start to wear off as I become tolerant of it?
Also, I know this drug works by blocking the reuptake of serotonin. How will this affect the way my brain works when I stop taking it? Will the drug have altered the way my brain deals with serotonin? Will it try to produce more or will it only be able to produce less? My concern is that I will alter the way my body functions forever. Or it will eventually return to the way it functioned before the medicine? |
