TEK - Traditional Opium Pipe Smoking

Thebige brings you.......... Traditional Opium Pipe Smoking as taught to him from Mr.Sing (RIP)....... You will enter your local opium den and be directed to settle down on your side,although sometimes a smoking party of 4 or more might lie on each others stomachs,you will be provided with a pillow and a very low bed to lie on,usally found in the nicer dens with Chinese art and decor.Now the propriator(sp) will come to you with your opium on a clamshell and proceed to place a small amount of opium on a long needle called a yen hanck. He will hold it over the oil burning opium lamp rolling the needle and watching it swell and bubble to eight or ten times its original size,loosing its blackish color and taking on a brownish hue and gives off a creamy odor that the older smokers seem to enjoy alot.Now shitty low grade opium will not give off this odor and will not take on a nice brown color with black streaks in it and might fall off the needle.OK then........now things start to get good....This is called "cooking" the opium now when the proprioter gets this to the right consistence he will rapidly twirl the mass of opium still on the yen hanck,on the broad surface of the bowl putting it occasionally in the flame of the opium lamp,catching it now and then on the edge of the bowl and pulling it out into strings in order to cook the opium more thoroughly.This is called"chying the mass"....he will roll it again on upon the bowl until it formed into a pea sized mass.With the needle he forces the opium into the small hole in the bowl and levels it off.Hold on it gets Better..................Now grasping the the stem of the pipe near the bowl in your left hand hold it across the flame of the lamp to warm it with the opium being heated at the same time.Now the needle is poked into the center of the bowl and withdrawn with a twisting motion leaving a hole in the center of the opium........Now hold the pipe over the lamp and tip it above the flame.........INHALE.............fill your lungs with the sweet thick smoke..............OK I need to calm down a sec....Now you can finish the bowl in a number of small draws,or some smokers like to finish the whole bowl in what is called "The Long Draw"and if smoke is coming out of your eyes and ears you are already on your way to being a well skilled opium smoker.......Now the proprioter will repete this procedure until you motion to him that you are satisfied with the amount you have smoked.And will be happy to come back to tend to you needs!The bottom line is opium must be Vaporised to reap all of its benifits and drawbacks (remember)....Now swim must go to the local opium den before they close......................Contact thebige .....for further instuction on how to use the items found on a complete opium smoking tray.Since this is getting rather long and I have to meet up with Shanghi Gal at her Den..Sorry ......bige

this sounds quite interesting...although i doubt this is the ONLY place where one can find essentially the same info, I still appreciate your post...albeit in a format that is difficult to read.

Care to elaborate on the bowl itself?

i assumed it was glass or clay, with a long stem... am i right?

also, what about the opening of the bowl? is the opening large or small?

sounds like the latex is heated on a needle, at which point it becomes stringy and apparently expands as well...at which point, the sticky warmed product is basically spread around onto the bowl surface...is that an accurate simplification??

Yes,I supose I could have said it that way ,I admire you for abilty to simplify this......I agree its long winded.. just writing out images in the brain....... Yes alot of people call the bowl a "damper"(dont know but swim thinks it comes from the fact that a damp sponge is used to cool down the bowl and wipe off any residue across the face of the bowl , between smokes...)....Clay ,jade, soapstone,ivory common materials for bowl.....The bowl looks like a antique doorknob to swim..Very small apature for the opium it self since a pea sized piece is used , about the size of a sewing thimble with a hole that looks like you could make it with a sewing/knitting needle............Oh on a side note you can make one from using the rinds of a lemon.......cement the peels together until it reaches the right size....sand off the top ....dry ....drill and smoke.......enjoy lemon flavored smoke!...Swim just saw manbearpig and in runnin scared......no shit!

SWIM always felt, with no evidence to back it up, that the damper term originated by the pipe's resemblance to a candle damper (or snuffer)

This sounds very enjoyable. I bet the ceremony is a great part of the suspense. Is this similar to "chasing the dragon" as with H? swim is familiar with this method of administration and happens to think it is the absolute best method and most pleasurable even beating iv. The intake is painless although it takes some practice to learn without wasting a lot of it. But once you get the hang of it swim seems to think it is the absolute bees knees, you get the rush, pleasurable taste, extreme euphoria and it is quick, it takes a lot less preparation, much less paraphernalia and is easy to get rid of the incriminating evidence, just crumple up the foil and the straw and throw far, far away. swim cannot find any H in US that is the right type though, seems that brown H makes the best dragon chaser. By the way, does anyone know why H comes in so many colors? does it have anything to do with the thoroughness of processing? A girl in Germany told swim that it has some unprocessed opium still mixed in. Swim has even seen pink H that he claimed was very, very nice. Pink? Wow! Seriously, what is the deal and cause of the color differences.
