Question How much is needed to develop withdrawal symtoms?

A friend recently started taking valium, xanax, and soma.

He does not take too much as of now, maybe 10mg valium, 2mg xanax, and a soma per day.

He is worried he may become dependent but I have told him with the amounts he is taking it is highly unlikely but I wanted to check here and get your opinion on how much it would take.

Re: How much is needed to develop withdrawal symtoms?

Benzodiazepine withdraw has been observed in patients from as little as two weeks after daily use at the high end of the dosage range. These are only mild withdraws, (mostly psychological) and certainly nothing to worry over that much. It really depends on the person and whether they are in a high risk group when it comes to abusing substances.

I wouldn't like to say if SWIY will become dependent or not, but one thing is clear, the longer SWIY takes them (daily use) the higher the risks of that happing are. If it was SWIM, he'd never go above 2-4 weeks of daily use regardless of the dosage. Only if SWIM suffered from a serious condition and benzos were the best way to give him relief from symptoms would he think about it.

Once in awhile, is the best way to go with benzos ISO. At least thats how SWIM likes to do it. This way SWIM can take doses in the more recreational range and not worry about dependance.

If your friend is taking these by prescription, I wouldn't be too worried.

If he is buying these drugs for recreational use, tell him to put a stop to it because he most likely will start taking larger and larger amounts because of tolerance eventually causing an addiction.

It's like a snowball turning into a fucking avalanche. Be careful.

Re: How much is needed to develop withdrawal symtoms?

Swim completely agrees with SwiAdvor!!! If RX'ed by a Dr. then they will make sure swiy are properly detoxed safely and whatnot... However taking them illicitly WILL lead to an addcition and maybe a supply running dry and going into immediate withdrawal without being able to procure the problem unless going to a detox facility, etc...

Swims little bro' is going through an opiate detox in a rehabilitation center right now!!! It doesn't seem to be the most pleasant of times but swims bro IS doing something in the wright path!!!

Swim had been addcited to opiates (inparticular oxycodone) for 4 and a half years or so! Towards the end he started IV'ing drugs so at that point he made an appointment with a suboxone Dr. Now he is 4 and a half months clean and NEVER FELT BETTER!!! Also because of swim being honest with his psychiatrist and his suboxone Dr. they are REALLY WILLING to help if they can tell you are serious about changing your life!!!

Swims Dr. gives him 8mg Suboxone, 4mgs Klonazepam, 30mgs adderall, and 15mgs paroxetine. While his Psych gives him 90 0.5mg alprazolam a month. For years swim LIED TO DOCS but now he is ACTUALLY get'n the meds he needs because of his honesty, however some Dr's won't do ANYTHING for swiy if swiy has past addiction problems!!!???

Anyways like swim said,,, yeah it depends whether RX'ed the meds or illicit use!!! SERIOUSLY!!! If swim is 'abusing drugs' he most likely has an underlying condition (most of the time!)!!! Some have NO underlying psychological issues and just want to get 'HIGH'!!!???

Swim wishes swiy's friend the best of luck!!! Swim also says if he can do it ANYONE CAN DO IT!!! Everyone have a great night and wonderful morning!!! -bdb1-

Re: How much is needed to develop withdrawal symtoms?

SWIM started self medicating about 6 months ago. SWIM needs 1.5 mg of Alprazolam daily, to function. If SWIM stops the drug abruptly then confusion, irritation, sensation of being physically numb, and a great deal of anxiety, not to mention what it does to my bowels. Tappering is the best way to go. Each person responds diffrently. I find I can slowly tapper my evening dose, but after 1 week I generally give up because of the general discomfort. SWIM regrets having a drug control him
