Pharmacology - Please Help- questions about alprazolam... i know UTFSE but didnt find anythin :(

So, SWIM was recently prescribed Alprazolam (Xanax) for his anxiety and all in all it does a fair job. However everynow and then, SWIM wants to feel extra relaxed. SWIM has only been on it for a month, and fell short last month. I suppose SWIM's question is, has his tollerance gone up so much already or is this not the right medication for him? SWIM is wary to tell his doc its not doin the trick for fear he may take SWIM off them completely and try that SSRI bullshit that anyone with real anxiety knows doesn't work for crap. Please any suggestions for meds that are better for this or opinions on how to talk toSWIM's doc without allerting him. Please any help will do, SWIM really hates this, cuz he ends up taking more and running short each month. lots of love to all us SWIMMERS and as always, take care of yourselves, and eachother.

SWIM is no expert on the subject but from his research he has gathered that tolerance sets in very quickly with benzos + alprazolam is not the sort of thing one would want to be addicted to SWIM hears the withdrawl is just horrible, possibly worse than opiates and definattley more dangerous (chance od seizures during withdrawl).
It works wonders for anxiety though, maybe a little to well... be careful.
