Re: Where are all the raves?
Where SWIM is in the U.K. the raves are dying. Nightmare crews started to cause trouble and fight the police. This utter twat called Christopher Fraser, M.P. for S.W. Norfolk (guess what, he’s a conservative) brought it up in parliament:
http://www.theyworkforyou.com/debate...7-07-19b.536.0 The notion that anyone makes any money out of these things is a joke. Most of his accusations are bullshit. In the good old days people would help clear up in the morning light, but, like I say, the calibre of raver has gone a bit downhill. Quote:
No-one’s ever given SWIM anything more than the odd line or spliff. It’s more like a drugs market, everyone buying and selling their stuff till everyone’s sorted. There’s a good atmosphere, though, and even guys SWIM would normally have issues with are fine when they all wasted and dancing. Or at least it used to be the way before these idiots started to piss off the police. Still, it’s pretty much gone now. The police recently threatened SWIM's friend for planning a birthday party in a village hall, for fuck’s sake. That’s what happens when the Tories get involved in anything: no fun for the poor, no opportunities for the poor, no help for the poor, just shit jobs and a brutal legal system. Re: Where are all the raves?
In my area once you go to one and meet a bunch of cool people stay in contact, ravers advertize on things like myspace email lists or other such technological thingys.

Re: Where are all the raves?
It depends whhere abouts in the country you are. I'm in Nottingham, and can name you three free party crews who are right now actively and putting parties on in my area alone. Not to mention all of the "above ground" clubnights being put on that are playing jungle, dubstep &c.
The above poster points a pretty grim picture, and it is one I would have to disagree whole heartedly with. I've been raving for years, and I can say with confidence that right now, the party scene is at its strongest point since the early 90s. Try looking on websites such as DontStayIn, and chances are there's an internet forum dedicated to your local underground party scene too. Most regions of the UK have one. |

Re: Where are all the raves?
Better than Gordon Brown don't you think? I get the impression that Cameron is less dogmatic and would probably be more open minded as a Prime Minister than Brown is. I don't have a lot of evidence to back that up, but that's just the impression I get.

Re: Where are all the raves?
Cameron's the velvet glove that conceals the twisted claw. Do you really think things will be better for drug users under a Tory government?
Brown is floundering. SWIM isn’t a massive fan of New Labour, but the Tories are a sinister bunch. Look at that link SWIM posted to get an idea of an average Conservative minister’s view of raves. Brown’s the lesser of two evils. |

Re: Where are all the raves?
well we had some awesome raves here years ago. mind blowing turbo sound, lasers, unexplainable atmosphere people & drugs. this all went away when the promoters fucked each other over by competing with each other trying to throw each others events over by having events on the same nights as the other promotion companies, the crowd started to become too commercial & scum started pulling in with weapons & stealing peoples bags & phones etc while they all enjoying themselves then all this along with the governments views & cops, society etc.
so once again greed & power over took these people & it went pear shaped. now there is only commercial clubs left which suck. if you into pub/clubs knock urself out, literally. remember the hippies era? we the ravers are the statistics of the modern day hippies from the rave era being the same as the flower era. same thing just different time. at least alot of us had the oppurtunity to be part of it.
