Thought all my fellow shroomers would get a kick out of this karaoke bar house at a hot spring in Japan! Amani-rific!

It's a prefab modular dome made from special expanded polystyrene coated with UV blocking paint. Apparently, these dome houses have become popular in the Japanese countryside. Probably because they will last a LONG time without steel or wood and they go together like big plastic toy models. Also they are earthquake safe by design.

... The fact that they cost $30,000usd with foundation and all the other utility work can't hurt for sure.

The Aso Farm Land resort village in Kyushu uses about 480 of these styrofoam domes as lodging, recreational facilities and retail shops. pretty fucking trippy IMHO.

God, the Japanese seem to have started their 1984-esque housing quite early. Kinda cute though.

I came across a picture while researching solar power and green houses and Then looking into who actually made these prefabs.

lol or flame retardant. I bet without that these would go up in flames fairly easily being a highly compressed form of the packing peanut.
