Can fish oil capsules reduce chance of cocaine related heart problems?

Fish Oil: "Omega-3 fatty acids are categorized as docosahexaenoic (DHA) or eicosapentaneoic acids (EPA). They are found in oily fish and nutritional supplements. These compounds have anti-inflammatory and anti-blood clotting effects and may be significantly beneficial to the heart and reduce the risk for stroke."

SWIM takes a variety of vitamin supplements, several of which are said to improve heart health. SWIM is wondering if intentionally taking something like fish oil, b vitamins, or anti-oxidant vitamins while using cocaine will lessen the stress on the heart?

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine those will help alleviate some strain on the heart.

However, I think no matter what, cocaine will always be hard on ones cardiovascular system.

Cocaine is terrible on your heart, please tell swiy to stay away. Swim used to use it and stopped, but there is noticable strain on the heart that didn't used to be there, and veins in the extremities felt bad. Swim stopped and when he started taking fish oil months later it became noticably better. Highly recommended and there's solid research behind it.

Swim takes Cod Liver Oil (1/2tsp/ day in some grapefruit juice). It does reduce inflammation and that helps with joints and of course ones cardiovascular system, which is always good. It helps keep the veins and arteries elastic for good blood flow.

The damage done to the heart by cocaine is far from being prevented or decreased by fish oil

I agree. Fish oil is a great supplement, but won't prevent the damage caused by cocaine

If anything, ingest potassium and limit your sodium intake to less than 1500mg a day. Although I doubt ti'd be too hurful to go a little lower on that if you could.

Swim's blood pressure is pretty decent(110/60) if he avoids caffeine, nicotine, sodium, and ingests a fair amount of fruit and vegetables(potassium source, low fat). Which is a major cause of cocaine related heart problems.

But simply smoking a cigarette will raise that 20 points. Although cocaine and amphetamines don't have near the effect on his blood pressure as tobacco. Ingesting a ton of salty foods can raise it another 20. Eating lots of potassium and exercising daily can lower it a substantial amount too. Swim generally has borderline high blood pressure though because he chooses to keep smoking and he doesn't always watch his salt and potassium intake unless he's doing stims. Every little thing counts. But those will probably be the biggest live savers for swiy, although he'll still have problems if he keeps doing it.

Running can really really help reduce the chance of coke related heart problems.

When you are runnin your veins expand like 3 times their original size and help improve flow...

in combination of fish oil, you can certainly improve your cardiovascular condition.

not prevent damage though

As far as I know do almonds have 50% healthy fat and are high in tyrosine which the body synthesis to dopamine and they are high in arginine which increase the release nitric oxide causing very mild vasodilating effect. They are very cheap, very healthy and taste very good. Nuts mix well with fruits, bananas for instance are rich in magnesium which relaxes the muscles and has a calming effect on the entire nervous system. Quitting smoking, sport and a healthy food surely helps.
